Major Glock announcement??

Glock stated on their Facebook page that they will have “BIG news” next week. Now in marketing-speak that could be something completely uninteresting…or it could be a great new product people have actually been wanting from Glock. Here are a few of the possibilities:

Single Stack 9mm/.40 S&W – Many Glock fans have been clamoring for a thin, single stack 9mm (and/or .40 S&W) pistol for concealed carry and back up roles. To date, the company has ignored these pleas. It seems that Glock is one of the last companies not to bring such a gun to market.

I would envision two “sizes” of single stack guns: a G19 and a G26 size. This would cover the compact and subcompact markets. Also, the magazines and certain other parts could interchange between the two size pistols.

A single stack 9mm is my first choice on something cool that Glock could announce. I would argue that Glock is very conservative about introducing new models or changes in the line up. Others may disagree, but if you take the Gen 4 guns, Glock only added interchangeable grips after the rest of the industry had largely moved to them. It is possible that “Glock Perfection” is as much of a trap as it is a catchy slogan.

As a Glock fan, I hope this is the big announcement. I could use a single-stack Glock 19.

Pistol Caliber Carbine – Although I think this ship sailed more than a decade ago, there is still a market for a handy carbine that would use the company’s pistol magazines. If you don’t believe me, just as Kel-Tec. They can hardly keep the SUB-2000 carbines in stock in my area.

While the SUB-2000 is nice, it does have a variety of flaws I don’t care for. If “Big G” came out with their own carbine, but with improved ergonomics and a recoil operated action (not blowback), I’d buy one immediately.

GAR-15 – The GAR-15 (Glock’s American Rifle – not the needle fish with the sharp, pointy teeth) would be an instant best seller in today’s market. If you make any kind of AR-style rifle, it will sell. Granted, Glock could make something with a super-tough polymer receiver and an awesome look, but they would not need to.

Magpul-type Accessories – There is money in making and selling guns. There is A LOT MORE money in selling magazines, vertical grips, back up sights and all sorts of doo-dads. Margins are relatively low on guns, but much higher on injection molded plastic.

Glock could come out with a complete line of accessories for their guns and for the AR platform. If nothing else, all of the company’s fans would rush out and buy up a bunch of it. If the products were truly innovative, they could capture a big chunk of the accessory market.

While we will all know very soon, I am interested in hearing what you think Glock is going to announce.

That is the downside... Just like everything else, it's gone up ~$100 in the last month.

You get a $300+ KIDD 2 stage trigger, and the stock. Really, I think the stock should be ~$150 how it is, but once you add an afternoon full of giggling like a schoolgirl and the $$$$ saved on ammo vs a slidefire AR, it comes back into balance.

I'm still not sure if there is any real use for it as a tool, but I haven't met anyone who didn't smile ear to ear after shooting it.

Yeah...not bad. Trying to decide how "deep" I want to spend on this G36 since I've already got the other 10/22 with barrel, etc.

With the stupid price of .223 brass right now, I've been contemplating picking up a 10/22. Not to mention it's quiet enough where I won't attract SWAT, ATF, FBI and Batman when firing it on private property like the AR does.

Any 10/22's in stock for under $1,850 at the moment? lol

I have a very old (1930's) bolt-action Savage Model 40 that I hunt squirrel with. It's an awesome and surprisingly accurate rifle. Squirrel aren't particularly hard to hunt, and I often find myself passing up a shot because it's too easy. Keep the irons on the gun and I think you'll enjoy the challenge.

Practically speaking a single-stack 9mm Glock won't be that much thinner. At best they could shave one-quarter inch to get to PPS size, but the slim G36 is only 2mm thinner. Just really think about whether that is going to print less.

I would prefer if they just rounded off the corners more.

I've been looking for a 10/22 compact since Thanksgiving (for the AA2, been missing my carbine). Found one on Friday for $209, and it went out of stock before I could put it in the cart.

Davidson's still has the BSA edition for <$500, if you don't mind donating to the Boy Scouts. Once those sell out, you know things are bad.

there are several Talo/Mannlicher stock versions right around $400 on GB. Heck, Bud's has the BSA one for that price too.
