OMGHi2U 95 impreza 1.8 to 2.5rs

Well im new to this stuff and looking for some help. i have the 2.5 ecu from the 01 RS. i have everything for this swap but the wiring.
he doesnt want to cut any wires till i do some research. we were wondering if we should cut the wires coming from the ecu to the ignition,...etc, or not do that and take the bulkhead(hope that was right). and i dont think that i cant use the 1.8 wiring with the 2.5 ECU.
thank for the help in advance

You can use the wiring from the 1995 Impreza to run an ej25 that's what I did. It will run alright just idle funny if you use the 1.8 coil pack and TB it possible. Also it wont rev all the way out mine stopped at 6200rpm. You just have do some fancy stuff to make it work perfectly. I just ended up doing a full wire conversion to make it all plug and play for perfection.

Sounds good to me warning its a lot of work and if you plan on doing that I am pretty sure its easier to use a new dash due to all the differences your new bulkhead harness will have. I bought a 1998 Subaru Legacy Outback do a full conversion to mine.
To get to every little thing I needed I went from this

All the way to this.

Taking everything apart only took me two days but i only got 6 hours of sleep and it was 80 degrees out so again look at how involved it actually is.
Also if your not doing it your self labor would be painfully expensive unless you get the parts individually somehow.

Is not fun and barely worth it for just a 2.5 swap if you do all this you might as well either turbo or 3.3 swap the thing haha
The only reason I didn't in the first place is cause I needed a new drive train and I couldn't afford it all that the same time being only 18 and i just instead used every part I could from this car.

Let me know if you have any other questions cause when it comes to this I've seen it all between these cars and the SVX I bought fixed up and sold to my friend.

When you say merge the wires do you mean make the bulkhard harness from the secound picture above work with an 1.8 ecu? I believe you can but it all depends on your total setup what dash are you going to be using?

other way around actualy. i will have to get a pic where he wants me to merge them. that way i dont keep asking random questions...lol. i still have the 1.8 dash. but i wil try to get that pic asap. so sorry about that. hmm. well to give a little hint of where. your second pic. to the right of the whit cover in the center. he wants to cut them right theere and merge them. cut all that go to the bulkhead but the three connectors that connect to the engine. if that makes sense. but i will try to get ahold of my friend today. and ty for the help.

I get what you mean I believe its easier to just merge at the actual ECU harness which is the baby blue clip down by the bottom right that's barely in the picture and use a diagram like below to match the wires.

Above is the ECU pin out or our cars 1.8 liter engine.
What car is all your stuff coming from and what ECU are you going to use Cause I can prob get out another pin out for your new ej25 setup so you can match the wires that way.
Btw other people feel free to jump in cause I do not know much about wiring at all and please correct me if I am wrong.

No problem man I want more people to post in this haha this info has been covered a couple times in this forums but its not easy to find and not clear enough. I would love to know how to merge a harness using these diagrams its too bad I am 18 and have no clue how to. That is why I am just swapping full bulkheads. But Yea post some pics of what you are trying to do I wanna see it.

Default 2001 rs swap into brighton

Im in your situation, about a month ago i got a 97 brighton coupe with the sohc 2.5(forester/rs 2001) running on the 1.8 harness, ecu and throttle body and i cant get it to idle, it bogs down and it backfires through the intake when coming off the gas. I am so frustrated im ready to put a dohc in at this point. is there a thread on brighton to NA 2.5 swaps?
