Hey everyone. Just moved to central IL from st.louis, MO... and wow is it miserable here for car enthusiasts. There is a cop on every corner, and I have not found one single reasonably long fun road. My question is...to those of you in the area, have you found any fun country roads?

I've found about 15-20 2008 or newer wrx/sti's out here....and i've gotten 1 wave. I have no clue what is with these people. Back in st.louis, i got waves from the other side of a divided highway... So yeah, the subaru scene sucks here. And yes, haven't found too many fun roads. I'd rather in be in chicago, but work brought me here instead ![]() Quote:

Welcome to broke azz IL. The Galena area suggestion is good. Also look near the Ottawa area for roads near the rivers. Spend some time on Google maps and take some roadtrips. It's a good way to explore your new home area and burn some hydrocarbons. Cops on every corner? There is a lot of crappy IL drama the closer you get to the city but it really isn't that bad. Just keep an eye out and use good judgement.
Some of us don't have time for that waving BS unless we actually know who you are. So don't worry too much about it. Plus it is a lot different than it used to be, Subarus are generally more mainstream and getting "Civic" affordable as they get older. Last edited by JarHarms; 10-07-2012 at 09:37 PM. |

I'm in Peoria too. Lemme know if you ever wanna cruise.
For roads, I'm always lookin too, mostly for my bike though. Farmdale Rd to Veterans Rd from East Peoria to Morton is decent. Usually no traffic, and never seen a cop until pretty close to Morton. It's not long, but it's somethin. Bittersweet branches off from that and looks curvy on the map, but I've never run it. Taking 29 up the river and then 26 back down was a decent cruise, but not super exciting. If you have a GPS there's a few curvy roads along 26. I read recently that there's some good roads near Mossville, but I haven't had a chance to check them out yet. I usually keep the exploring to the bike, and it's getting chilly out... |

I've been in Peoria since February this year, moved in from Michigan for work. I've seen a few wrxs and stis, but doesn't seem to be a subie community here. If anyone has ideas for a get together someday, I'd be onboard.

I'm from the Peoria area and I've got myself a hawkeye haven't had it to long do I'm kind of new to the scene I'm always down to meet some fellow suby owners but doesn't seem to be many around seem to only seem them on the roads and not at meets, love to get a cruise around sometime soon. I road I always loved on my bike or car was Rt 8, if your heading towards Kickapoo on War Memorial you take a left on koerner road just passed American( the store) and then that leads down to Route 8, has some pretty fun curves never had probs with cops except for once. I mainly just like it because it's close and it was on the way to my brother in laws shop, hit my up if you every want to cruise it

You've got to find the roads that go up/down the bluffs in this area. I know where a number of them are. The problem is that most of them aren't that long....but it's better than nothing and you're in central IL, so pickers cant be choosers.
Any of you guys work at Cat? Which facility? |
