Thanks rocko.. the tune would probably b same day or two..if possible.. n probably hour drive.. as I thought bought it.. doing all in one shop would maybe best since I have to only deal with one shop if issues arrise.. as for cobb AP.. I swore by it untill I read more.. the fact that I will b doing a "one time" mod and tune I dont see the ap being cost efficient if I would probably end up buying an ots map or getting tuned through ap in a shop...I know there's also benefits of logging and checking ur 0-60..1/4 mile.. valet mode.. but its just weekend driver I wanted to tweak slightly ..

Yea, I'm not sure where you are planning to go for install and tuning. Chances are you can talk one shop into a discount if you get it all done there. Those are pretty basic mods so the prices should be comparable no matter where you go.

And both OS and AP have their advantages. Do some research, talk to tuners. You can always buy a used AP to save money.

Also, I haven't been out to the meet in awhile, so I don't know if you're a regular or not. I'm sure some of the locals can help you with the install. Pizza and beer goes a long way. The intake can be done by anyone who can use a wrench/screw driver. The dp might be tough based on the age of the car and getting the bolts loose. Never did an up-pipe so I have no clue on that one

as long as the install is done correctly, you can drive where ever you need, since its stock injectors (no need to scale), just dont boost, limp the car to the tuner and they should be able to open source you if they are worth anything...

IMO the AP is great when you plan on doing staged installs. i started with stg 1, then stg 1 + intake, then stg2 OTS. THEN i went furthher with mods and got a protune with my fuel pump and EWG. the AP is nice becuase of hte ease to log, and using it as a guage. many tuners only pro tune these days because of the ease and more support for the AP vs opensourcing...

in the end a dyno tune is a dyno tune, whether it be opensourced or done on the AP. the only thing that is different is you having a lap top and tactrix vs the ap. in my case i would have problems with my tune, i'd log with the AP and send that to EFI, they rework the map, send me a new one and i ref lash all with the AP...its just easy.

so in the end its really preference... and with an AP, the prices are pretty steady, and you can usually pick one up and sell for the same price, if not more if you have some nice negotiating skills

the uppipe is the single worst install, period. of ANY car of any install that i've ever been around. done my own uppipe 3 times, cullens rusted ****ing ****, and then toms . all of which were a pain in the dick.

dp is a joke, just soak it all in PB and put a nice grunt into it.

Anyone up for some pizza and beer one day? And some install?.. I can even provide a bigg garage to work in..lots of tools..and also a second /third person.. but rather do it with someone who knows something..I rather do it right and sacrifice some $$ than wreck a 6000 car... Can do it at 420 if anyone wants.. also anyone know of a Cobb ap for 2002 I'd b Interested in a price.. thanks

Yea i've been on there the past few days and I think an AP was just posted today if i'm not mistaken. Lots available though.

I would be interested in an install day since I'm hurting for the space and tools. I just have to install my STS and headlights so beer/pizza/subi's/ & learning sounds awesome.

Hey guys just a suggestion. Maybe one night instead of the meet and food, we go to Pole Position in Jersey city and find out truly who the best driver is?!!? Just a suggestion and something different.

I went a week ago and it was friggen awesome! I got 2 races (10-15 laps each race) and it was like $55.

Anyone down? Or do I just look childish and stupid? lol

Am down for pole...was there two months ago.. great time.. n shot sum pool while I waited..cars r fast..am in jc so am down... Am down for Subies and working on cars.. got construction shop in jc I can use some nights n weekends.. can drive one car all way in and possibly two.. tons of parking outside.. we should def arrange stuff.. save each other money n meet new people.. am working on handling n suspension first before I go stage 2.. makes no sense if car can't handle power... Was gonna go strut n spring combo rather than coilover.. the servicing n rebuilding scares me away.. any input on coilover n how long they last before servicing?.. I herd rebuild once a year... Am not down for that.. yet..

coils are hit or miss. Can be once a year or can last 3 years without blowing. But just be prepared when they seize, blow, bind, etc. The headaches with messing with the car

Spring and strut combo have less problems and are more reliable but once you factor in all the parts it will most likely be more than a coilover setup unless you get something used.

down for pole position!!!

This about sums it up well. On my 09 wrx I ran BC racing coilovers for over 50k miles of hard abuse on dirt roads..commuting...track...and they were still good as new, but I dont think those results are typical. Especially for fairly cheap coilovers.

If you have zero intention of tracking your car and you do a lot of commuting I would just stick with a spring/strut combo. It will be much more reliable and a whole lot more comfortable. Your spine will thank you.

I have no idea if we have any loaner cars available. John gets to work by like 715 if you want to give him a call.
