Top hat and strut compatibility

I know you can use 04-07 rear springs on 02-03 rear struts with the 921 spacers and 04-07 rear tophats...

Can you use 02-03 rear springs on 04-07 rear struts if you use the 02-03 rear strut tops?

Looking to use prodrive springs for 02-03 wrx on 05 wrx by using stock shocks and 02-03 tophats since the springs are different. Mainly I want to check to see if the mounting surface on the 04-07 rear strut will mate up OK to 02-03 rear tophats.

It won't work. I have made a similar thread about this.

Edit: I guess I didnt actually make a thread about it, but asked the same question in someone else's thread.

If you think about why you have to use a spacer in order to use 02-03 struts with 04-07 tophats, you can maybe understand how 04-07 struts are different.
