Im contacting some aftermarket companies to see if they can make an exhaust system for our New Impreza's

Well, I've been way too sick to even attempt to build headers lately, but I'm too stupid to actually relax and get some rest and feel the need to get in the shop and do something, so...

I thought I'd show the 2.0i crowd some love. I made two prototypes for my axle back exhausts (these will indeed be the production models)

One with a polished Magnaflow muffler and twin rolled edge dual wall Magnaflow tips:

On the car

And a less expensive version with an 18" Magnaflow resonator and factory style hidden exit:

Resonator version off the car (show with optional tip):

And installed on the car:

This version with tip will need to have plastic trimmed back

Pricing TBD

If it's not too much trouble, could you take a pic of that 2.0i hatch from under? Curious to see what the exhaust layout looks like. My next car might be a 2.0i Premium hatch. Been hearing lots of good things -- namely a friggin' headgasket that doesn't leak!!

Not a huge sound difference between the two, although the resonator version should theoretically be a little louder.

As for pricing, it looks like

$270 for the resonator version (no tip)

$335 for the resonator version (with tip)

$385 for the polished muffler with dual tips

With my headers, I started off behind and have never been able to catch up. I'm going to attempt to do things differently with these and wait until I have the proper jigs/fixtures and man power to produce them in greater quantities in hopes of having little to no wait period. So that may take a few more weeks.

These are for the hatchback only.
The sedan is totally different and it may be a month or so before I start working on a axle back for them.
If any 12/13 sedan owner living in the twin cities wants to help out the community and get a huge discount on a axle back (for lending me their car to work on) email me through my website

Looking really good man! Love to hear a sound clip of each if you get a chance. Also, what's the biggest difference between a muffler and a resonator besides size?

Nice! I'm in but will have to get the wife "in". Her last car was an Alfa Romeo 164S that howled at full throttle. I don't think that it should be too hard of a sell to add a little rumble.
Does it affect low end torque at all? (As in losing some of it)

A technical explanation can be a little lengthy, so I'll just say I made a resonator version as a lower cost alternative to the full size polished muffler with fancy tips.

No low end loss at all. Actually, that far back in the system (especially seeing as how it is after a 2" mid pipe) you could run an open pipe with no low end loss.

Unfortunately, no

I'm not satisfied with the look (tip wise) on the polished version, so I'll be making a revised version with the tips tucked back under the car a little and with an angle cut instead of a straight cut. I'll also be making a dual exit quad tip version

A dual tip with an Ansa style outlet would be cool. It might tuck in a little tighter since you could use smaller diameter tips on it. Look at the exhaust on something like a Ferrari Daytona or an Alfa GTV-6 with an Ansa exhaust.

Id gladly cut my bumper for a good looming quad tip. It looks kinda janky when everything hangs below waiting to catch something to rip it off.

Itd be so easy to dremmel out part of the unpainted section to fit a nice pair of tips. Always love a nice pair of tips that are nice and tight up where they should be.

@blk6s: I saw someone mention an idea of a dolphin-tip exhaust and was interested if something like this could work for the 2012+ 2.0i hatchback like you've been working with.

I see what you did there.

Have you checked to see what's behind that bumper cover. It might not be an option to cut out for exhaust if there is crash structure there.

Figured. Plus I doubt stock mounts would work. Still curious what he has to say though.
