Default 07 impreza engine tick/tapping

Used 07 impreza sedan 2.5I 93000 miles. once warm starts ticking/tapping under light throttle around 2k rpm, kind of quiet over or under that. Coming from driver side engine area. Got valve adj. wasnt very noticeable for a short while than came back. its pretty loud and annoying. please help with ya'll guys Subaru wisdom. Oh and I use 5w30 castrol

You're sure it's not the normal subaru "tick" you're referring to? I believe the general term is "piston slap".

Is this your first subaru?

Yeah I am pretty sure its not the subie sound. it is my first Subaru. it is loud under light throttle and if I hold it at around 2k rpm it is so clacky but not constant thought out different rpm. so rod knock I believe would be out the picture (I hope)

Rod knock starts at a lower RPM initially, most of the time. I wouldn't rule it out yet.

If it is rod knock or rod bearing what am I looking at in order to fix. sorry for noob questions. not car smart, only army smart. thanks guys
