02 WRX Wagon + V8 STi Swap = Yes Please

We've got a really cool swap in the works and we're working hard to get it done, ASAP.

Here is how the car sat as of 6pm last night (Wednesday 08/22):

the stock heart is out by the very next morning!

A quick peak from underneath....

The new.....

And of course.... then there is Matt.

We're all about working hard to make sure that a job is done well and done as quickly as possible! We're 18 hours into the project so far.

after a quick replacement of the timing belt, water pump and a few other tune up touches, she's in!

And the test fire is successful!

We're hard at work!

Any pics of the throttle pedal swap from cable to drive by wire? Doing the same swap in my 04 and trying to figure out if I am drilling holes or not in the firewall.

Looks nice. Good choice getting all the timing belt stuff out of the way while it was on the stand. Makes we want to buy another subaru

The JDM V8 is DBC, so no swap needed for the pedal assembly.

We had very little to have to modify, to be honest. The customer is really enjoying it.

Hi I'm actually planning a similar swap. I have a 2003 bugeye wagon that I want to put an 07 STI full swap in. Engine, tranny, brakes, and everything else. I've been trying to find out more info about this drive by wire conversion that people talk about and the electronics portion.

do you know if an 07 STI and 03 impreza are the same in the drive by wire, drive by cable aspect? and how difficult was it to swap out the engine harness and ECU with that from the STI. We were going to go by the wiring diagrams and my brothers been a mechanic for about 10 years with experience on numerous platforms so we should be fine but any extra information I can get would be helpful!

Edit: just realized that you did a JDM swap :facepalm: so that's why the swap was still DBC with you. My bad

If you do a 04 or 05 sti swap it will be much easier

What's the big difference between an 05 STI and an 07? I'm guessing it's mostly wiring differences?

Also, it's either the 04 or 05 sti that got the different feed injectors as well if I'm not mistaken. They only made one year that was different from what I was told.

07 sti uses a drive by wire throttle body system, the ecu harness is different, so on. If you swap to another throttle by cable engine then your existing harness will plug into the new ecu you'll get with the swap. You still want to go throttle by wire, it is possible but requires the additional wiring work.

04-06 STI has side feed injectors
