Default Any ideas????

I just built my 2.5 and had the machine work done at a reputable shop in my area. I had the block bored and sleeved. Polished the stock crank. Went with Manley turbo tuff rods, cosworth pistons and ACL race bearing. I also had the heads freshened up with a valve job. I installed the engine and it runs fine except I have a tap on the right bank. It sounds like a mis adjusted valve but I checked the lash and its all in spec. I also ran compression and pressurized the cylinder to make sure I don't have any bent valves. Everything looks good but I still have the tap. Can anyone help me with this please? I plan on trailering it to the machine shop to see what they think within the next few weeks but I figured I'd hit you guys up first to pick your brains. I appreciate any suggestions.

Right bank... Top of Head, bottom of head? Front of head, back of head?

It sounds loudest on the valve covers. Does anyone know the valve lash specs? I've seen several tolerances and I'm not sure which ones to go by.

Did you check the lash after you bolted the heads on the shortblock or before ?

I checked it after I started the engine and heard the rattle. I'm thinking they're too far out of spec now that I got the tolerances. I have an exhaust valve that's .014. Is that enough to rattle?

Also depends on if you used assembly lube or oil. If you used oil, clearance will be tighter. I allow +/-.002 either way.

14 thou is definitely to much clearance.

So why do some say .008i .010e and others say .008i .014e which equals the .20mmI and .35mmE?

I always build with the specs I gave you, and my motors are always quiet. On my car with GSC S2's I assembled with same numbers and was still silky smooth.
