The manifesto is informative, Unibomber is an extremely intelligent individual, very knowledgable about Subarus, maybe remember enthusiasts are here for constructive advice and most of all fun...

Hey same here!! Dealership said first oil change at 7500, I was planning on doing it at 4000. I know more frequent oil changes is better but why did you choose to do yours at 1000? Seems a little soon since the new synthetic Subaru uses.

A little late on the action but this link explains engine breaking pretty well also:
http://www.ntnoa.org/enginebreakin.htm

Although Im not sure about more modern engines, they could be somewhat different.

There's An On Going Debate As To Whether New Engines Leave Metal Deposits During The Break-In Process. I Got An Oil Change Simply For Peace Of Mind, Plus I Figured I Might As Well Do It Since My First Oil Change Is Free

Haha Yeah, I Developed This Habit Through Myspace (I Was Trying To Be "Cool" At The Time) And It Stuck With Me. It's Pretty Unique In A Way, And It Doesnt Really Slow Down My WPM. But Dont Worry, When It Comes To School And Business I Only Capitalize The First Letter Of The Sentence.

Nice ride man. Question about your name, does NightKids mean you are the son of the Nightman from Always Sunny in Philadelphia?

1. Don't drive like a jacktard. Do not bang shift. Do not nail the gas in 5th gear. Do not nail the gas in all gear/every gear all day long.
2. Keep up on maintenance. Don't obssess about it....just do it. If you don't have the dealer do it, make damn sure you keep all receipts in case the dealer wants to play hard if a warranty issue occurs.
3. If you modify the car in terms of power, BE SURE you do so by researching the mods to the end of the earth. Don't slap on an intake because it was awesome on your old Honda....mods that are great on XXX car do little on Subarus.
4. Go to the top of this forum and read the sticky threads, in particular the one titled Unabomber's Manifesto.
5. Keep it stock.
6. There are MANY locals in NOVA....go to the Mid Atlantic forum and get to know them. www.fastwrx.com is in your area so support local businesses....them boys are the real deal and have been doing Subarus for well over 10 years.

he knows what he is talking about, i have 5k on mine...i feel like it goes in quarters. first 250miles the trans is VERY tight. you may even miss a gear and stall it like a dick....try not to do that. also, be careful and DONT REV THE CLUTCH. you should grab perfectly without using the gas at all. you also have a hill holder...it will let the car move after about 3 seconds/ gear starts to move after a complete stop on a hill back or foreward. next 250 was a little better, i brought it up to about 4k....but nothing fast. bring it up and let it back down.....next 250-300 i started bringing it up more often but NOT beating it....next 250 it felt very good very smooth, things start to get awesome around 5k...after this stage....dont power shift/ dont launch it unless you know what your doing and enjoy.

The Transmission And Idle Is Much Smoother Now, And I Use 93 Octane At Exxon.

Quick Rant:
I Was Driving Home From Class Today And As I Was Taking The Exit Ramp Some ******* In A Silver Accord Tried To Pass Me On The Inside. Mind You This Ramp Only Had One Lane, The *** Is Wrong With People These Days ??
