Event Summary:

Indiana Rallycross will be hosting an ‘Aussie challenge’ style bracket competition at Friendswood Golf Course on the old driving range. Competitors will line up against each other at opposite sides of a circular track and run a 2 lap race. Points will be awarded for each win, and the competitor with the most victories at the end of the day will walk away with the bragging rights.

Competitors will be classed according to car type: Turbo AWD, NA AWD, and 2WD.

A severe weather date of Feb 10 has been set in case of severe conditions on Feb 2.

The event will be postponed if we have ‘Feels Like’ or wind chill temperatures of 20 degrees or lower. The race will not be rescheduled after Feb 10, it will happen that date regardless of conditions short of a county mandated weather emergency in effect.

If conditions look questionable – PLEASE CHECK THE WEBSITE – it will be the only place we can guarantee will have the most up to date and accurate information. We may not know if we are going to reschedule until 24 hours prior to the event – so please check the evening before for the latest information.

Safety Notice:

This is an OFF-ROAD event, please be prepared. This will be on a very flat piece of land that used to be a driving range, however the weather can still cause unpredictable surface conditions. All participants and spectators will be required to sign a waiver upon entering the grounds. DOT certified helmets required for all drivers and passengers.

picture course layout like for the previous event would be great

What seat-time should we expect? like how many runs and how long the course would be?

Are spectators welcome? :-)

I live about 15 minutes away from this golf course, so when I found out about this I was pretty psyched.

Course layout hasn't been finalized, still waiting to see what the weather will do, depending on that that we may design the track differently.

The course will be flat, the biggest concern is mud or ice depending on conditions. We have run lowered cars at this venue before, had a Porsche 911 out there once even. My biggest concern is for the rwd and fwd folks not getting enough traction if things get sloppy.

As for seat time, probably can count on a lot, this will be a smaller event with less drivers and will just keep going until we run out of time.

Are "mild" studded tires allowed?

I would take care of that ice fairly quickly

Bump - less than a week away!

Here are the latest details - the weather looks like it should mostly cooperate, 30~ish degrees with some sun, so the chances of postponing due to severe conditions looks extremely unlikely.

However, It was 50 yesterday, 60 today, and 50 again tomorrow... with a lot of rain. Temperatures will drop back down at the end of the week but I am not counting on the ground freezing back up in time for this event. What does this mean for us? MUD. Plan on it being sloppy out there.

The course is flat, and in really good shape at the moment. As of right now I think we're expecting maybe 20~ish people to show up. And remember this won't be a traditional timed event - more of an elimination style. So expect a lot of seat time, and expect your car to get very dirty.

This would would be the perfect event for any one new to rallycross wanting to check things out and have a chance to hoon in the mud for a bit without having to worry too much about damaging the car.

We'll be getting more details up later this week - but start spreading the word - I really want to see a bunch of people out there for this!.

Personally,I wouldn't run studs.... just an aggressive, knobby snow tire.

So my biggest concern for this whole event is that the golf course doesn't really care how bad we're gonna tear that place up?

The race is on the old driving range, we actually had about 5-6 scca rallycross events there last year. The owner of the property will actually be racing his Forester.

This is soooo tempting! But what if all I have is my all-season radials? Would I just get stuck and have a bad time?

Also, could the helmet be a DOT-certified full-face motorcycle helmet?

Yes, I am a noob.

Thanks!
