Default 2012wrx data log

ok gurus.

I'm new here, and i did a little datalogging with my AP. I watched the video on cobb's website on what to do. Then i followed through with how to read the 5 most important things. but i still got confused.

I'm currently running a Perrin Stage 1 tune with the drop in filter. Also a Nameless performance muffler delete.

getting ready to go to a stage 2 cobb map after i install my invidia catted dp.

however, I wanna make sure that everything is looking good so far. so here's 2 datalogs if anyone wants to take a look.

You need to do your 3rd gear pulls at 2000rpm. Also I do see some Fbkc in your first log which isn't a good thing but it is minor. You'll need to do another pull if you can do so safely to see how your car is reacting.

Ok. I dont remember the Cobb video saying a gear. So I did a 2nd gear pull. I will do my best to get that up tomorrow. Thanks for the info!

As mentioned, if you can do so safely, try to get a 3rd gear only wide open throttle (WOT) run from around 2500 RPM on up. That will give us a better idea of how boost control looks as well as give an extended run that can check for knock.

Your boost levels seem pretty low for a stage 1 tune. I'm not sure how Perrins map run, if they are on the conservative side or not, but I only see 13.4 max psi. I run 18 psi on my stage 1 with a TP map and had 16 psi with a COBB OTS map for Stage 1.
You also have some FKL but that could be just noise or the type of gas thats in there now.

i always run 93 octane gas and most of the time it's from the local 7-11 which carries BP gas (i'm pretty sure).

i do know that my target boost is set to 15.5 (saw it on the info for the map). and i noticed i didnt see that on any of the data logs. however, with the AP set to show real time boost, i've seen it hit 16-16.2 some.

but like i've said, i'm not real familar with all of this yet

I'm not familiar with the Perrin but if you see target boost at 15.5 then that's fine. Although on your 3rd gear pulls it only gets to 13.4, so there is a lot of room for improvement. What's your altitude? this is a factor in the boost you are seeing.

As for the gas, its a long drawn out debate...I've had slight FBL with shell 93, switched to Marathon 93, nothing, then baclto shell and nothing....it really all depends.

Map looks like it is targeting about 17.x psi peak boost which you are pretty far off from. I would make sure you do not have their stage 2 map reflashed( that you reflashed a stage 1 map). Boost control is going to be different enough when you finally go stage 2, so it may just be prudent to go stage 2 now (install downpipe) and reflash stage 2 map and see how things look (assuming you do not suspect a boost leak or other issue).

it looks like an approximate altitude is around 1300 ft (some quick googling)

i defnitely don't have their stage 2 flashed. they "customized" that map for me when i did my AP from them. it's all part of their stage 1 power kit.

i do have my downpipe on it's way, and plan on using just a the cobb stage 2 ots map with it for now. do you all think i should try flashing the cobb stage 1 ots map and see how it does?

I would say try it, no harm in trying...but..I don't know if the drop in filter will make cause any issues. COBB's OTS maps are generally really nice...I ran with it for about 8k miles or so.
if you do flash it, get a 3rd gear log, or just wait for the downpipe, install it, and then do a 3rd gear log with the map from COBB.
Your choice, just keep us posted

If my downpipe isn't in by the time the snow clears away, then ill probably flash cobbs stage 1 and see how it goes.
Hopefully by then, Cobb with chime in about the drop in filter

You can give our OTS map a try. We also have high wastegate (HWG) maps for cars that are underboosting that are available in the maps section at cobbtuning.com. But, if you are going to try our maps, try the normal wastegate map first and get a data log. You can also check with Perrin to see if they have a HWG version of their map.

haven't had a chance to data log again or go stage 2 yet; however, i did get my downpipe in this morning.

just curious though if cobb's OTS stage 2 map will work with perrin's CAI? i know that it says it's set up for cobb's intake and the AEM intake, just not sure about the perrin.

i know they also have the stock intake maps, but i was going to do a perrin intake with my downpipe

You must use only the exact intakes that are designated by the map. Using an intake that the map is not calibrated for can cause fueling and timing errors and potential engine damage. However, you can get a custom tune for a different intake through a protuner for the Accessport. Also, I believe that Perrin sells their own OTS maps that will work with their intake.

Update:

I contacted Perrin today, told them what I had and what is on its way. They sent me a stage 2 map (with the jntake) and told me to datalog after I get it all installed. And send it to them.

They were very pleasant. Ill definitely keep everyone posted and I will post the datalogs after I get them.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info too

ok ladies and gentlemen, i'm sorry it has been so long. the car ended up taking a large rock to the driver's rear door. So it was in the shop getting repaired.
I did get everything installed now and have it up and running.
attached are 2 stage 2 datalogs from today.

my target boost is 17.5 and i'm not getting it. i have emailed Perrin about it and they haven't gotten back to me yet (they were probably out of the office by the time i emailed it).
They seem to have excellent customer service so i'm sure they'll be back to me in no time.

but until then...
ENJOY!!
