Hey everyone,
2012 WRX with around 8500 miles on it, took this log today in New York (ambient temp 40 deg F). I was a bit concerned upon seeing the amount "knock learning" seen on the log. This log was just a full 3rd gear pull to redline, as detailed in the Cobb instructional video on how to take proper logs. The car has no mods but stage 1, 93 oct map. I read that some sporadic feedback knock might be "noise", but I wasn't sure about the knock learning. Any assessment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B61Y...VfY3hORXc/edit

its seen some knock in the past and is till trying to a bit at higher rpms. if it was my car.. id look for some better gas.
have your ap on feedback knock while your making the pull so you can stop if you see above a -1.4 correction. if you cant get it to stop, flash the 91 regular wg map. |

Because there have been cases of new Subarus with intake leaks from the factory, I would drive through at least a tank of gas since you installed the AccessPORT, reflashed a map or reset the ECU (making sure not to do the latter two during this process). Then you can look at your long-term fuel trims (A/F Learning 1 A,B,C,D). This will generally tell you if you have a fueling problem, such as that caused by a intake tract leak (which can potentially cause knock issues at high load). After a good amount of driving, each individual A/F Learning 1 value should be within around +/- 5%. Also, make sure you are using a quality gas. Most have had the best luck with the so-called "top tier" gas brands and the least luck with the no-name gas brands. Bill |

Appreciate the quick reply Bill, even on Christmas!
I should probably mention that before this car was flashed last summer, it had the infamous throttle body to intercooler hose failure. I reinstalled the hose as per a procedure I found on the forum (remove rubber endcaps, use t-bolt clamps) and the leak seemed to have disappeared from a performance standpoint. Perhaps there is now another leak (although I do not hear anything that would indicate that). The car seems to continue to pull hard, however. I always try and use gas from the local Sunoco station, which I was told has higher quality fuel than some of the "no name" gas stations. Would you recommend perhaps getting an aftermarket TB to IC hose to ensure that there is no leak from that area? |

Hey Bill,
Here is an updated log we took this weekend. Since the last post, we had the IC to TB hose replaced with an aftermarket silicon hose from Tomioka. Everything else is still the same (stage 1, 93 octane map, about 9000 miles) The current log was taken in upstate NY (ambient temp around 30 deg F) using gas from Sunoco: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B61Y...h5c0tEeGM/edit There are two runs in this log. Both runs were pulls in 2nd and 3rd gear to redline (the runs are separated by the blank line) Thanks! |

Hey Bill
Sorry about that. I just realized that google docs was cutting things out: Here is the original log: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B61Y...1uWWcyeWM/edit The runs from the log I posted last night are at times 148 and 389. Thanks again |

For future wide open throttle (WOT) runs, try to get a 3rd gear run from around 2500 RPM on up, if you can do so safely (it appears in this log that your run was a 2nd to 3rd gear run). Bill |

Hey Bill,
Here is a WOT run in 3rd gear I took today (ambient temp 40 deg F). I did a real time flash about 1 week ago now (stage 1 93 octane map) - since then I've probably driven about 50/60 miles. Thanks again https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B61Y...5JU3FsUGs/edit |

Log looks good. You are right at the stated boost target, but a little over the actual final target as the ECU is likely dropping the target due to colder temps. If it gets much colder out, I would get some additional logs. Bill |

Hey Bill,
I installed the Cobb SF intake and flashed the appropriate map (Stage 1+ 93 map). I did a WOT run in 2nd and 3rd gear and attached the log (ambient temperature around 50 F). The car is a 2012 WRX with 10500 miles on it. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B61Y...it?usp=sharing Thanks! |

Logs look good. But you should start in 3rd not 2nd.
