Default Car audio / electrical expert needed :)

Hey everyone,

I recently got a new head-unit (Pioneer x940BT) installed but was looking to add a few things and was hoping I could get some help from someone who knows how to or is pretty good with car electricals. I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to this so I'd appreciate any help I could get.

Let me me know, happy to offer some cash or beers for the time needed. The work is on a 2011 WRX sedan, located in Seattle near Capital Hill.

Parking brake override/bypass
iPhone connection cord
Backup camera

Thanks,
Mike

Electrical isn't that hard to get the hang of. If you have a little confidence, you should check out www.the12volt.com its a great wealth of information.

The bypass is just a relay you can buy at radio shack. Pretty easy to install. I did mine myself.
The iPod hook up is pretty easy as well. Should be plug and play as long as you buy the correct one for your unit.

90% of the time there's just a wire that runs from the headunit to the e-brake wiring. I believe its a blue wire. You just need to trace the wire from the headunit to the ebrake wires n snip it n tap it off....just my two cents

I have the 940xbt also. The e brake wire is green. Also on this model you can not just snip it and ground it out like older models.

I got a quote from FOSS audio for $50 to do it. Not a bad price if you don't know what your doing/risk messing something up.

All AVICS are bypassed by changing the harness pinout. Well documented on car audio websites and youtube.

Thanks all, I did get the Bypass off of Amazon and saw some Google vids, guess I just hate tampering with stuff I'm not familiar with.

Bummer - yah, I really don't trust myself with wiring and tampering with stuff. Who knows, maybe I'll feel daring and do it myself one of these days.

Sounds like you're getting what you need, check out avic411.com when you get a chance. You might find more good stuff there.
