I wouldn't spend money on having the OEM manifold ceramic coated.

I can't think of any disadvantages.

hmmm... so you can run a stock ported exhuast manifold without changing the tune? aftermrket ones will require one though, right?

Grimmspeed makes a lot of its stuff with stock parts, so it's the same but ceramic coated, bored out, and with a bigger crosspipe, but from the two sources I've consulted you don't need a tune

Just quicker spool and potentially more top end

Disadvantages are ported manifolds usually develop leaks after some use.

The walls are considerably thinner when ported. It can be hard to get them to seal, and you really don't gain any power.

Huh? GS matches the bore to the gaskets. There is plenty of meat left. I've had mine on/off the car multiple times with no issues what so ever. Have you seen their work in person? It's beautiful!

Great info... I just kind of hope Cobb chimes in to verify it doesn't need a tune.. last thing I want is to screw my car up.. Subarus are pretty temperamental when changing parts

its not really worth the money. i have the same grimspeed pnp w/ crosspipe you are referring to and i coudlnt notice a difference after installing it. i would be very suprised if you could feel a difference. its better in theory but i think the gains are maybe 5hp if your lucky. dont get me wrong, its a nice part, but the gains for the $ are not there at all. so small its not worth $300 dollars thats for sure.

Shouldn't be a problem for the OTS maps. Always a good idea to data log with any part changes regardless. Could impact VE, so those with Speed Density tunes would have to take a closer look.

im trying to pick up another oem header/crosspipe, and gasket match porting it myself.. saving a bunch of money. if it helps with spool, lag, or even adds a little hp, then i think its worth the few hours of work.

i just wanted cobb to chime in, because im running a stage 2 map, and its not in the list of approved mods on their site. plus, the last thing i want to do is screw up my motor

Nothing wrong with the porting. Its great workmanship. I just wouldn't recomend ported manifolds in general because they do have a tendency to leak.
