Default My struts are stuck

As in, I can't get them(at least the rears) to come out of the top hats. They are KYB GR2s on the stock Legacy springs, that I replaced a few years ago. They aren't rusty, and the top hats are not original to the car. But once I take the nut off, the strut won't drop out.

Any suggestions, without damaging anything?

Pressure, in what way? I had the assembly out of the car, on a spring compressor when I tried to get it apart.
