Default Need a performance and swapping guru ASAP - 01 rs - ej257

Ok quick story, just finished swapping everything from a 04 Sti into my 01 rs. Only thing not swapped over from the sti was the fuel tank (mistake on my part). I also decide to do a few performance mods along the way. Apon start up I noticed it runs as it did before I pulled it from the donor car (nice). BUT If I blurp the throttle quickly it doesn't catch it's self at adle, It'll just completly die. Starts and idles just fine as long I dont blurp it. Now if it's in it's "warm up cycle" I can blurp the throttle and it acts like a normal car catching it's self at idle normaly. I can drive it in my driveway as long as I feather the throttle and catch it before it falls on its face. Please take note this car has not left my driveway since the swap and performance modifacations were done. The only CEL I have is p1446 - no dtc definition found <---but this is due to me runing a rs tank (will be tunned out later)

(((please keep in mind all of these mods were done at once and there has been no tune since I did said mods)))

Ej257:
1. Fmic (bov venting 100% atmospheric )
2. After market up pipe
3. Perrin catless DP
4. custom catless 4" exhaust
5. Eliminated rear o2

Things i've tried:
1. Spraying various vacuum lines and anywhere i could think of with carb cleaner to check for vacuum leaks...results= Nothing

Questions:
1. Is my atmospheric venting bov causing my motor to fall on its face because the ecu isn't seeing the additional air it's programmed to see? Or does that only effect the car when In boost . Considering a bov will only vent under pressure?

Any and all help would be appreciated

I would say get a base map and see if that helps

My car hasn't even left my garage/drive way since the STI swap and current performance mod's. I'd like to get it running as best I can and at the very least a couple trips around the block (not boosting) before I hand her over to some strangers to tune it. I'm pretty sure they cant be held laible if it blows while on the dyno and for that reason alone I wanna hand it over once im confident I did and checked everything I possible could, Ya know?

Is there any way you can hook up the rear o2 sensor, and could you reinstall the bpv to see if those two mods are causing your running issue? It sounds like it is going pig rich after you let off the throttle, causing it to die.

Recirculate the bov or get a tune.

I would install the rear o2 but it's gone (hence y it's not on the car :/) and I no longer have the stock bov. Ughhhh...**** it. I guess it'll have to take a trip to EQ tuning.

If Ed is going to tune your car, he could set you up with a limp map for the mods you have on the car. He's going to load one into your ECU before he starts tuning it anyway as a starting point. I would just call him if you haven't already done so.

You're running an 04 STI ECU, right? IIRC all 32 bit ECUs use the rear O2 sensor for fueling. If that's so you should reinstall it.

Do you have a tactrix cable or something along those lines? If not I suggest you pick something up so you can monitor your AFRs, AF corrections, etc. If you do have one, check to see what those are reading.

Who did the wiring merge? You?

you need a rear 02 on factory ecu for closed loop driving and if u recircullate the bov it will not stall. also by adjusting the spring pressure it would help it not stall. i just did this swap for a customer and it came out perfect pm me if u want to talk about it. my customers build is in the na bolt on turbo section

Things for worse (and I mean dramatically worse. Took her out for a quick test drive (shifting under 3k and under very light excelerAtion ) she was fine and started to catch its self at idle. I noticed at a stop light that a bit of smoke was coming from the hood so I quickly hopped out to check ( praying it was misc burn off the exhaust or headed ) ((( after a bit of crying and mixed rage i came to the conclusion that it was royal purple gear oil leaking from my front transmission seal into my bell housing and down between the motor and transmission. Considering thats the only thing that currently has royal purple in it. Stupid mother ****er burned me on the used transmission!!! Ahhhhh.

That was yesterday. Since I've calmed down and realized that bitching won't fix the prob Len so I'm one bolt shy of the transmission coming out. Found a "How to" on http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/...ad.php?t=90182

I plan to try this today as I don't have to 3k or additional cash for a new transmission .

Default Protune?

Ok guys this is a little off topic, but would taking it to a tuner to get it sorted out help? I bought a 2004 wrx with an STI swap about 4 weeks ago, and I'm having issues too. Would a Protune be a good starting point? (May help the original post).
