I have a 04 wrx that needs a rebuild, and i also picked up a 02 block off craigslist to biuld it u an minimize the down time.
I found a 2.1 strocker kit that comes with the 430 crank-79mm. I read a while back that some blocks and cranks have the trust washer in eigther #3 or #5 position but i have not found the information again Can anyone tell me if this crank will work?

99 and up all have the thrust bearing in the #5 spot.
So yes it will work. |

Does anyone know of any problems with going up to a 93mm bore, any known block failures?
In general Pros/Cons? |

I would say do the minimum bore that is needed. 93 is only 1mm over stock bore.

JE stocks the stroker pistons.
Their off the shelf 92.5mm 8.5:1 pistons are going into my personal 2.1L stroker for my bugeye project build with a set of my standard length rods. Keeping it light and strong! -Micah |

Ok, so I'm starting to buy all the parts now. I'm getting a Stroker kit so that will take care of the crank, rods, pistons, and bearings. I already have a timing belt kit with the water pump also. And a set of Manley valve springs. So I need:
Oil pump - stock or something else? Gasket set - any suggestions? Where to get a good deal? 93mm head gasket set - is .027 the thinnest available? Am I overlooking/missing anything? |
