Very Nice! I like the forester much better than the old wagon personaly...nice upgrade man. Just curious though...how much cheaper is the ins really? I mean they are on teh same chassis, XT actually rates a better 0-60 time and has more HP than your old one.

I just got STi and the insurance on it for full coverage is cheaper than I was paying for less coverage on my 01' Tundra... This through Esurance. But I was paying 535/mo on my old STi back in 2005 when I had lots tickets

Sorry for the late reply.

My insurance went down by almost half, but that was because I a) moved out of crime-ridden Baltimore city, b) bought a house, and c) got married since owning the Forester Sports XT. I think the WRX just carried a higher premium because it was so accessible (price-wise) to newer, younger drivers who couldn't control themselves when it came to operating the gas pedal.

And to keep this on topic, I added the rear JDM Cross Sport badge to match the front one. I'm such a "ricer"!

Update: Last month I had installed new Swift Sport lowering springs and KYB Excel (rebranded GR-2's) struts with STi Group N topmounts. The new suspension is so much better than stock, but I honestly believe the stock suspension was on the way out after 120k+ miles. Ride height, turn in, and steering are so much better now. I scraped the front lip a few times because I'm not used to being "lowered", haha!

This is the best that I can do for a "before/after".
This is before...

This is after.

The drop is just under 2" front and back.

Default Rear suspension upgraded

I finally installed my STi Lateral Links and pink STi trailing arms, along with alignment, at Andrewtech.

The STi Lateral Links are pretty conspicuous.

On the alignment machine...

Here's a more recent pic in Georgetown, DC.

Thanks for the positive comments!

Here's a small update - new STi 5-speed shift knob. I really like the weight and it helps in shifting through each gate. It looks pretty sharp, too.

Default JDM card holder

This morning I installed a JDM card holder. I should stop being preoccupied with the small mods and get on top of the turbo swap.

Default Finally, Here are some professional shots.

By "professional", I mean someone else took pictures with a non-iPhone camera.

She's about to go "under the knife" within the end of the month because of an intermittent P0304 CEL. All the obvious fixes have been done and still have not resolved the issue.

Took the car to Andrewtech about a month ago and they replaced a bucket in cylinder 4. Apart from that, the engine was fine and there were no other issues. The idle is buttery smooth; the last time the idle was this good was when I first bought the Forester.

VF43 swap, supporting mods, and tune are next week. I can't wait!

Last night I installed my DAMD steering wheel. It feels so much better over stock!

Looking good. One of the nicest cars Subaru has ever brought stateside, IMO.

What a beautiful car. I saw it in-person outside Andrewtech a month or two ago and drooled a little.

So tasteful. So much attention to the tiny details. Not a lot of owners can claim that honor. Kudos to you, sir.

Thank you so much! I know there are others out there who have "gone bigger" with their WRX's, STi's, and Foresters but I'm pretty satisfied with what I've done with the Forester. It is true that the small details and touches are what I tend to focus on. I think my best and most useful mod is the business card holder. I use it every day to hold my parking pass for the lot at work !

I got tuned on Wednesday at TurboXS in Gaithersburg, MD - 284hp/304.9ft-lb. Mods are new IHI VF43 turbo, STi intercooler, ID 1000cc injectors, Walbro fuel pump, new plugs, and Subtle Solutions hood shroud with heat shield & chimney. Parts were installed by Andrewtech Automotive which is nearby TurboXS, and they also meticulously handle all the routine maintenance on my Forester.

My power is limited by the JDM v7 STi downpipe. That's alright with me though, because I don't want to suffocate babies.

Thanks to everyone involved at Andrewtech Automotive (Andrew, Sam, Jacob, and Sang) and TurboXS (Raj and Jermaine).

I thought the JDM Ver.7 STI has a twin scroll system.

JDM Version 8 (2004) had the twin scroll, I believe. Version 7 (2003) was non-twin scroll.

I ordered a set of new all-season tires due to a screw in my side wall this morning and found out Michelin no longer makes my tires to replace the flat (Pilot Sport A/S Plus'). Since the new tire replacing the flat one doesn't match the others (Pilot Sport A/S 3's) and the tire shop ran out of stock, I had to order a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's. I'm running the new tire with the old ones for a few days until that order comes in.

Tomorrow, I'm picking up these from UPS: Zero/sports Forester SG Side Skirts.

I had the opportunity to buy a low mileage R160 with a Carbonetic Carbon 1.5 way rear limited slip differential inside. I picked it up for a great price to replace the lame OEM rear LSD.

I love how I have a real rear LSD in there.

Thanks!

I had to "bribe" a Forester forum member living in Japan with yen for sake to pick up that Cross Sports badge from a local dealership for me. Apparently, you can order the Cross Sports front grill badge (similar in application to the Forester STi badge) from sites like Japanparts.com, but not the matching rear Cross Sports badge for the hatch. Because I'm so picky when it comes to my car, I HAD to have matching front and rear badges.

Incidently, I mistakenly ordered on two separate occasions the front grill Cross Sports badge so I have an extra one for sale if anyone wants it.
