Very nice ride, I like the fact that you stuck with your oem wheels for now at least.
Did you mention to your dealer that you tuned/tracked the car? Like a few others said, usually they arent to happy or willing to cover warranty issues.... Also I would not be suprised if it was a bad batch of e85. In california (at least that I know), their isnt a law that makes a requirement for how much ethanol is in each gallon. Ive heard that quite a few stations that carry e85, *at least where I am from* can have sometimes only 40% mixture rather than the 85% that it should be.... Great car nonetheless! I hope you are successful with the rebuild. |

I'm sure it would be fine. I really think it's rubbing because of the tires. I swapped out the stock Dunlops for a set of the new BFG Comp-2's and the sidewall has a bit of bubble to it, where the sidewall on the Dunlops are flatter. It's actually only rubbing on the sidewall. I took it back in to the shop that rolled them and they rolled them just a hair more. No biggie.

I'm running 25mm H&R spacers in the rear with some XXR 18x8.5 +48 wheels wrapped in some Hankook Ventus V12 255/35-18's. I have stock suspension, fenders rolled and absolutely no rubbing.
Your Perrin spacers are made by H&R which are made in Germany... which are damn good quality. |

Ok, it's been a while since I've posted here in my journal. It's easy to get emotionally "down" on your build when its not exactly going as planned. As I'm sure many of you can attest.
Anyhow, car has been back up and running like a champ for a good month now. No issues. However, here's what I was up against the 3-4 months prior... After the Chandler Superstore rebuilt my motor with all new exhaust valves, new pistons, new head, gaskets, etc. they left one or two of the bolts loose to the bracket that holds the turbo which led to me breaking my uppipe. Of course it broke right at the flange so there was no fixing it. I was forced to put the stock uppipe back on until another solution could be found. Fortunately, the stock uppipe revealed another issue. Bad banjo bolt in the turbo which was leaking oil directly onto the uppipe. Since my broken Invidia uppipe was ceramic coated, it never got hot enough to burn the oil that was dripping out of the turbo so we never knew the leak was present. Even thought it was a very small leak, the stock uppipe got plenty hot enough and smoke was visible coming up through my hood scoop everytime I hit a stoplight. In addition to the oil leak and the broken uppipe, my Invidia catted downpipe burnt up the CV boot on the passenger-side axle. So that axle assembly had to be replaced and I also replaced the catted DP with a new Invidia catless DP. After it was sent off to be coated of course. Then, with the help of my good friends James and Danielle, I acquired a Grimspeed uppipe with Tial 38mm EWG and screamer pipe. Of course, we then got a new banjo bolt for the turbo and headed down to Goodspeed in Scottsdale for labor and dyno tune. Since the exhaust valve went, I figured it would be a good idea for us to tune it back until I have the funds for forged internals and the involved labor. Thanks to Clark Turner and Goodspeed Performance I'm running at a safe 18psi in S#. The new tune brought me down to 333whp (from 349) and 405ft-lbs (from 419). Now for the good part. Clark was able to find a gain of roughly 100+ ft-lbs around 3,500rpm. I am posting now from my mobile so I don't have the dyno sheet to post, but I will repost it later when I get home. It shows shows the comparison between the current and previous tunes. The car is a whole new beast between 3,000-5,500rpm. Thanks again Goodspeed Performance Labs and Clark Turner Tuning. More to come... Hopefully positive. ![]() **Edit** Oh, almost forgot. Not sure if I mentioned this in a previous post, but when Subaru was rebuilding my motor, I pleaded with the service director to let me provide them with a set of forged Cosworth pistons and rods since they already had the motor split open and he said no. As you can imagine, I was more than disappointed. Just thought I'd throw that out there. ![]() Last edited by aikencolon; 02-07-2013 at 12:42 AM. |

First off, love the car man. Keep up the good work! That's a bummer about the forged internals, but at least you're back on the road.
I have some similar engine upgrades (I'll have to compare when I'm home), but I'm only making 335/376. The only thing that comes to mind is my tune was done on a super hot summer day. Would love to see the recent findings from Clark. I got my car taken care of by Goodspeed and have been extremely happy with it. |
