Anyone up for some racing? AMEC ( www.icerace.com ) racing started last weekend, it was an excellent event. Plenty of fun street cars, lots of room and lots of seat time. Next race is this Sunday west of Albany. It's a hike for those of us in eastern NE but it is well worth the effort.

Yes, but we're very polite and typically come home with cars in the same shape as when we got there (it is a no contact class). Only requirements are: real snow tires, Snell rated helmet and a fire extinguisher mounted to a metal bracket (I bought mine at Home Depot).

Too much risk for me to consider. No contact class doesnt mean contact wont happen. n00bs and wheel to wheel racing dont mix.

Yep, things can happen, but they rarely do. There was a first timer out there in a BRZ, he had a great time even if his car is a pretty bad choice for ice. I'd say the rsk is slightly higher than a HPDE day, the reward far greater.

Not sure what you're trying to imply but I doubt your insurance would cover any incidents while ice racing.
Mind you, I do track days with my car so I understand risks without insurance. |

Racing is on for tomorrow, Caroga Lake, NY. They got much less snow but there will be some snow banks this week.

The hit was from a square trailer hitch directly onto a compromised bumper beam. The bumper beam crumbled like it was made of crackers.
I never said it was a lady. The only thing I know about the car that hit me was it was an SUV with a trailer hitch. I also find it hilarious that you find the need to creep my facebook. ![]() |

^ Awesome! I see why they say, no light colored cars. When all the snow is getting spat in your face you can hardly see anything.

Last race of the season will be this Sunday assuming the weather cooperates, come on out! The warmer temps make for softer ice so even more grip.
Boston BMWCCA is trying to get an event together in NH this weekend or next, though their membership rules are a bit more complicated this year. |
