That was an awesome review - Clarkson doesn't hand out praise like that very lightly. They had a special recently called "The Worst Car In The History Of The World," where he presented the GT86 as "one of the best cars he's driven in ages." Contrary to what the title of the show may suggest, it wasn't sarcasm - the car was presented as a statement of "how come the same company that produced this brilliant car also produced the Lexus SC430" (which took their "worst car" title).

Looking at both cars going 'round the Top Gear track, I can't help but feel that the BRZ just seems more attractive, and more "realized," somewhat (Subie bias?) than the GT86. The Stig drifting the Toyota through the corners, counter steering on corner entry here and there - Just makes me wonder what times he could wring out of it with wider, stickier rubber. Feel kind of sorry for our Brit friends, though - didn't know that for every 10 BRZs Subaru is allowed to sell in the UK, Toyota can sell 90 GT86s (if I understood correctly)...and no Imprezas whatsoever for 2014MY!

The Toyota version would cost as much (if not more) than the BRZ. In the UK the GT-86 and BRZ have the same starting price (24,995).

I'd rather buy FR-S and spend the difference rebadging and ordering GT-86 parts off Japanparts.com anyway. The suspension is the same.... it's just the exhaust tips are different.. the interior is different.. those things are easy to 'fix'.

That said, the Scion brand is a failure and everyone knows it except Toyota USA.

Why no torrent?

Why do all my double-posts only occur in the BRZ forum?
