Default Ej16 :(

Hey guys i have 1.6 07 impreza which never came to us but u cant even imagine how slow it is . I've searched for power mods and found out that swapping the block would be a worthy mod to start with. The ej16 is sohc so my question is would i be able to put a block from a dohc 2.0 engine in mine ? And would i need to change anything else like the head or head gasket ?

Although I'm sure its doable, the resulting power upgrade can't justify any cost to do this. I would sell the car and looked for something that will meet your goal from the start.

I assume you're planning to swap in a non-turbo Ej20, right? That is not the ej20 that most USDM subaru owners are familiar with so most wont be able to give you good advice.

Subaru is usually pretty good about engine interchangeability in the same year range of cars. You could potentially swap in the whole engine instead of just the block. Worse case you transfer the intake manifold harness to match it to your firewall harness.
