Also I'm not a fan of how the clutch feels at all
My left leg hates me when I jump into the sti after driving the brz

So my brz just died while idling at 102miles. Went to start it and the starter will only initially click, it won't even go through a revolution. I'm really hoping the motor didn't lock up :/. Has anyone gone through something similar? The car was towed back to the dealer today, hopefully I'll know more tomorrow.

Drove my car a number of times today and it started fine. Then on my way home just now it cranked for a good 3 seconds before turning over.

And I noticed a big ****ing rock chip on my hood. Stupid thin ricer paint.

OE, my BRZ has done that same thing since a few weeks after owning it. Dealership was no help in diagnosis. They assumed cold temps outside, but it tends to happen after I've driven around for a while. A bit disconcerting to say the least. :-/

I'm sure "probably this cold weather we're having" works in Anchorage.. but that wouldn't fly at a contiguous dealership.

Yep, I don't know why it's so dam thin. I was looking at the rock chips on my car, you can't even get deep scratches into the paint because there isn't enough paint.

My dealer has told me some of the issues are to do the cold, while it's true it still doesn't make me happy.

I'm getting my front lip redone (I scraped it on a curb a few months back) and touched up with Dr. Colorchip as we speak. Also got my windshield replaced and the aquapel is working BEAUTIFULLY. Can't recommend that stuff enough. Also getting the car lightly detailed, waxed and clay barred.

I don't think my rough start up is cold-related. The engine's already warmed up from running around during the day. It's kind of random when it does it and a bit disheartening.

WOAH, keep us updated!

You'd know it if the motor seized. There'd be some major evidence -- mostly noise and probably smoke. I'm going to take a wild stab and say it was an electrical issue. Bad ground, maybe?

There doesn't need to be smoke or noise for a motor to seize either, that would only be if it was under load when it happened.

True, I've had Subaru motors seize without smoke or lots of noise.

I'd definitely use that 1-800 number for Subaru and getting a free tow. They're SUPER quick and easy to deal with.

O_O it's seized?!

Chano. New windshield? Hook me up; can't stand the scratches on mine. As far as the cranking thing goes I'm with you. It's only happened after I've used the car a few times.

Do ya'll have a Speedy Auto Glass down there? In any case, out-of-pocket the windshield is $500+. I have a $100 deductible, though. Most insurance companies offer it for a very minimal addition or it's just included with "full coverage". I'm with AllState, but State Farm had it too.

Hi. My name is Chano. I'm a Virgo and single. I live in Alaska. I'm Blaxican and chunky, but not fat. I can handle my BRZ better than I could my WRX.

Looks like Subaru will be finding me a new BRZ. I want to commend Ramsey Subaru and Subaru of America on awesome customer service, they really went to bat in fixing a rough situation.

My car died while idling at 102 miles. I had the car towed to Ramsey Subaru where it was diagnosed that the engine seized (unsure why until engine is disassembled). Ramsey stepped up to the plate Monday and gave me a 2013 Outback to drive while waiting to hear back. Gretchen and Maura of Subaru NA called me yesterday to let me know they'd be handling my case and keep me posted on possible solutions. Gretchen called me back today to let me know that they apologize for all the inconvenience and that they value me as a customer (3rd subaru in 4 years). She told me she will be replacing my BRZ with a new one, as opposed to simply replacing the engine with a new one and sending me on my way. As someone who's worked for a dealership for a long time this meant the world to me, as I didn't want to have to think about how my car has already had the engine swapped outside of the factory at only 102 miles. Needless to say I'm anxiously awaiting my replacement BRZ, also a limited 6mt in swp like the original

As far as I'm concerned I'm a Subaru customer for life, and they'll all be coming from Ramsey!

While it's a shame the engine siezed that is great news about how they handled it. Congrats and goodluck with the new brz.

Thanks I can't wait! I'll be doing wheels and suspension ASAP! I'll just enjoy the factory warranty for the time being and save for the power mods down the road.
