Looking to do the 6 speed swap for my 02 wrx and have a local shop talking me into doing a version 7 sti 6 speed. I have been looking around on here and google and haven't found a lot of answers on how it performs and what people have thought about it after having it done. From what I understand it reuses a lot of the 5 MT parts and so is the less expensive option. My power goals for the wrx are minimum 350awhp and I currently am at 220awhp/253tq. Just looking for any advice or guidance. Thanks in advance.

i have a jdm v7 drivetrain swap into my 03 bugeye. I sourced the entire drivetrain so plug and play to include axles/hubs and r180 rear diff. you need to match trans out ratio with rear diff ratio, your wrx r160 does not match. And r180 stronger.
You'll need a dccd controller, recommend dccd pro. I have an older neetronics. at the same time replace all axle and prop shaft seals, both front and rear. luv it. |

70 mph = 3100 rpm
66 mph = 3000 rpm Outback 2k rpm at 65 mph! btw 6th gear ratio is .842 for most Sti jdm 6 spds to include the V7, and most Sti usdm is .756 Rallispec published a trans ID chart that shows gear ratios for lots of transmissions: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...smission+chart I get 24-25 mpg mostly city driving, with a healthy set of mods/tune. |
