Default 2012-13 Impreza OEM LED Mirrors Retrofit.

Ok, here we have the 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Limited. I will be doing a OEM LED mirror retrofit. First you need to order the following parts:
4 - Solderless Terminals
4 - OEM Screws Part No. 91039AJ500 $00.71 each
1 - Left Cover Part No. 91059AJ210 $33.71
1 - Right Cover Part No. 91059AJ200 $33.71
1 - Left Lens Part No. 84401AJ010 $67.48
1 - Right Lens Part No. 84401AJ000 $67.48
PLUS + $14.00 shipping comes out to $219.22
www.heubergersubaruparts.com

As you can see that one for the mirror covers have the cut out in them. In Japan they paint them and have different part numbers for the painted part, In the USA they only come in that unpainted beige color.

The lens look like it has a slight tint to them, and have a defusser in the plastic to make the LED look brighter.

This is the wire that you are going to connect the POSITIVE + side of the Signal Lens to inside the door harness (YES) it's already there. The white wire with a red stripe is the turn signal.

This is the finished product below and I will take another picture with the cover painted and on the mirror.

Nice job! Having worked with the earlier Impreza/WRX/STI mirrors for a while now, I was waiting for someone to take this one on. Since the earlier Impreza almost always had the wiring already there for signals and this new gen the Canadian model already has the signals, it makes sense the wiring is there.

If I am not mistaken the JDM version come with the folding mirrors. The mirror harness already has those wires present. There are 4 more wires in that harness too! I wonder hhmm.........

Yep this is pretty standard all the previous imprezas have some of the JDM wiring. I have been keeping my eye out for some of the newer mirrors if I could land a set I could do better than $800.

PM me if you might be interested in checking a couple more things to see how ready the wiring is for JDM folding...

The EBAY seller dropped the price to $787 now, I guess they are not selling. it's still too high to buy straight out. Even if they where to fold and have the heated element in them. you will still need to change the mirror switch and ADD the folding module as well, right?

Can you provide a little more detail on how you added the LED wiring to the end plug? Are there pins(or sockets) already in the plug?
Thanks,

Not that it would save a ton of effort and money but there is no "module" the switch is wired directly to the mirrors it simply swaps (+) and (-) to fold in and out. I gave you a bunch more info in my PM. As these cars age or we figure out which other mirrors parts swap it gets cheaper...

Cool, I am for sure interested, when you come across something let me know and I will PM you right away. I am most likely going to get a few parts painted besides the mirror covers.

does anyone know if these are the same mirrors for the XV Crosstrek? Unfortunately the USA XV's dont have the signal mirrors as an option. Also do these have the heating element in them? I know there isnt a separate switch for the heated mirrors and that they just work off the rear defrost button. I've been itching to do this ever since i got my XV. Havent checked the wiring harness yet.

That Beige looks painted. Is the plastic itself that color? Im thinking we can get a different part number and get the right color somehow? You've done a great job sourcing and pioneering this and I am ready to pull the plug on it, but I want to do it right. I don't want tan paint chips on my black mirrors. Your input is much valued.

There are no pins on the mirror side , but on the harness side there are pins, I just spliced the wires twisted them into the empty mirror side pin holes, and when I connected the two connectors (mirror side/connector side) together they made contact. I don not know where you would get the pins from since no one sells them or for that matter makes them.

Some have asked about the wiring, looks like OP had to rig it up the best he could and this is how most do it.

The electrical parts are available, identifying and sourcing them is the hard part, Subaru will sell you mirror parts but not the internal wiring. I have sourced the parts, I am going to make up a run of signal wiring, to see if people would be interested. If you use my wiring, you can make the signal like stock, with the waterproof plug and the wiring snaps into the connector in the door. It looks like this:

Oh wow look at Subaru stepping up, I always wanted auto-dimming exterior mirrors I had to buy a 12 year old low end Lexus to get them ha. Neat how it is all integrated into the mirror glass, makes it a pretty low cost accessory, in fact $158 is a STEAL for dimming glass both sides. A new dimming glass one side for my Lexus is like $400.

Now of course this is all pre-wired on the Forester...previously the largest connector was a 10-pin but this new Forester must have a 14-pin they have added at least 4 more wires. To add all that stuff to another model you'd have to wire into the door from the mirror and interior lighting to get both those functions to work, would be way cool though.

If these worked with the crosstrek too I would have to seriously spending the money on these mirrors because they would now be super easy to install
