No false advertising. STI=SUBARU TECNICA INTERNATIONAL, nowhere does it say it's a shifter from a wrx sti 6spd.

Isn't the stock linkage still silver on 2012 models ? If so, lift up your dust boot and look. The Subaru STS linkage is gold in color. That way you'll know it was/wasn't installed.

The OEM STI "shifter" is the whole linkage/base/ assembly right? It still uses the stock shifter.

Correct, However only the lever is what changes the throws. FHi buys them as a complete kit from their supplier.

Just got a 2012 WRX myself. Wondering which route I should go in regards to a short throw shifter. I have been saving for quite a while now so as far as budgets go...less than $300. Any thoughts for a newbie? Searches of the forums yielded Kartboy, Mode, Factory Subaru....Thanks guys

p.s.- I would like to retain the factory shift knob.
