Other than checking your connections, I don't know what else to suggest.

When I hooked everything up, I checked to see that all modes were working in the driveway before driving the car. Everything was fine, even when I was driving it and when I got back home I turned the car off and then turned the key to accessory position and bam, blank white screen. If I touch the mode button it goes to black and then if I touch the screen it goes to white again.

I read where the bypass cause problems sometimes so I unplugged/desoldered all the wire from the bypass other than the ground and it still did the same thing.

Did I get a bad head unit?

Angry Important - Release Of Hvac Cable Sheaths

An EXTREMELY important point to add to the release of HVAC cables from bezels on driver's and passenger's sides of center console: make sure you release BOTH the cables themselves, AND the sheaths that hold them, from anchor points!!! Once this is done, ensure that the cable tips don't touch any wires bundled under the steering wheel.

I did not do either, and:
1. Although cables were detached as instructed, the cable sheath anchors remained connected, and therefore caused the anchor points on the HVAC bezel to crack - I'm hoping a repair with plastic epoxy and duct tape holds;

2. Once I released the sheathing anchor points (after cracking the bezel), one of the cable tips became ensnared in a wire bundle (I luckily found out before stripping the wire insulation).

When you feel resistance, don't just pull relentlessly as instructed in an earlier post on this thread. You WILL break something, of significant cost (>$400 from Subaru parts sites).

I know this is a bit off topic from recent posts so please forgive me for butting in. I have a 2012 Canadian Imprezza with the Clarion PF-3381A HU. Does anyone know where I can find the specs for this thing? I would like to know the Sensitivity, Frequency response and such. Patrick Henry suggests replacing just the speakers with a nice set of Polks would do a good job of improving sound, any thoughts? I am not an audiophile, I just want to improve the system.

This is very helpful for adjusting the sound on the stock stereo, many have done this and it helps things sound a lot better:

As for the speakers, you could upgrade them and keep the stock HU, but from what I've read the stock HU is woefully underpowered

Did it fit straight in? I thought since the luxury has the 7" screen any other aftermarket Headunit would have to be that size. But I'm keen to get the Sony just so I can install my twin 12 Polk audio subs

What a great thread. I have a '13 impreza sport limited, and this is my first subaru. It is also the first time I have ever been shocked at how bad an audio system can be, but I needed the AWD. I mean, I am no audiophile, but his is an embarrassment. On the highway you have to have it cranked to hear anything, and what you hear is poor.

Anyway, gonna put the Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS into this thing and see if I can live with the stock speakers. This is just a daily driver for me, so the stereo is important, but if I screw a few things up, I'm okay with that. I've done installs before, but long ago.

Also, the stock HU absolutely played hell with my Galaxy Note. After pairing it suddenly started to reboot randomly, etc. Finally unpaired it and did a hard reset. Anyone else notice that?
