Wildcat was pretty good today! Got choppy at the end, and at the start it was hard getting through some places...but there were a few out of the way runs to hit with good steep terrain covered in untouched powder
Off to either there, Cranmore or Attitash tomorrow!

Hit up crotched and found a good 30" of powder. Got a ton of early runs before it tracked out. It was so cold and dry the snow stayed really light pretty much the whole time.
Awesome day made better by subaruing too. Bumped into nesic'er who lurks but remembered a lot of great stuff from 01'-05'. Neat to meet people for the first time like that and already mutually know a lot of the same people. Derping on his SN, jack IRL. Great to meet ya I'm possible at wachusett tomorrow. |

Down to my last free ticket. Need to restock soon! Going to Attitash tomorrow to ski the glades at Bear Peak. Hopefully the well hidden woods sections will have some virgin snow that hasn't been banged out.

I hit Okemo last Wednesday. Conditions were excellent and I had a blast. They really keep up with the grooming at that mountain. I was hitting speeds I didn't think were possible on a snowboard lol.
Planning on hitting Stratton this coming Wednesday. I've never been. What's the general consensus from my fellow Nesicers? |

Skied there many times in the 70's and 80's, along with the other southern VT ski areas. I remember there not being a lot of challenging trails, but usually some decent groomers.

That's what I like so I should enjoy it. Id rather groomed terrain where I can get good speed over challenging trails. I don't mind an occasional challenging trail but they tend to be too choppy for me to completely enjoy.

Low pitch trails, only a few are steep enough to mention, they groom heavily and have an incredible amount of upload with all the 6 person lifts and the gondola so lines shouldn't be too bad (but trails will be more crowded). I'd go to Bromley, Magic or Snow if I were in southern VT, but Stratton is an experience.

Stratton is full of rich NY'ers. The mountain is trying to go upscale it appears they want to cater to them. I also almost got my ticket clipped for riding through the park without a Park Pass. Some interesting glades trails but nothing epic.

Is this VT vacation week? How bad are the lines typically at the end of week on Saturday or Sunday?

Holiday weekends are crazy in VT if the weather is remotely decent. Not worth it IMO.

My wife and I have had season passes to stratton for three years now and I'm beginning to grow very bored of the trails. Next year we might have to venture to killington instead.

Just got back from Brian Head in Utah. First time out this season had a blast. Wasn't the best of conditions but I'm not one to complain.

What do you recommend for mountains with good glades? This was my first time spending a lot of time in glade trails and I had a blast, so I would like to hit other mountains with glades now. Quote:
Needless to say this was my first and last time at Stratton. I'll come in here for advice on my next trip BEFORE I buy the ticket lol. |

Its all about finding where the locals ride the off trail glade chutes. Loon has some sick secret glades between a few trails, Sunapee has decent glades if snow I deep enough, Waterville I did not love their secret trails that much,

Have been to killington 5 times so far this season stellar conditions all 5 times. Best mountain for the money in VT and really on the east coast you could spend several days there and not hit every trail. Wide open even when it's crowded you can be on a trail alone. Southern VT resorts are not worth it other then killington sugarbush and northern resorts like jay peak are nice, but far.

Just planned a trip to hit Killington with a buddy this coming Monday. Multiple people have told me its the best in the East so I'm really looking forward to it. Looks like they have a few glade areas as well, which is my new found love haha. I like Okemo and Snow for southern VT, but only for day trips as they are less than 2 hours from my house. I've never been to Sugarbush but have heard good things about them as well. |

I guess it depends on what you consider value. I consider 6 parks, glades, steeps and some of the best of all on the east for sure a great value. 3000+ vertical cruisers that go for miles not 1000 feet, idk seems like a good time to me but to each is own. VT has alot of good mountains. For southern VT killington is the best IMO.
