Default To change the fluid or not? (AT)

Checked my trans fluid today and it had a burnt apperance and smell to it.... As I'm coming from GM where you don't touch the trans fluid if it's like that but the trans doesn't have any problems, I need some opinions from the subie experts.

Do I change the fluid/filter? or just keep driving it?

How finicky are these autos about that sort of thing?

If I should change it what fluid is recommended?

Car has 182k mi on it and I plan on pulling a small trailer with a mower on it this summer.

Has your fluid ever been changed? God I hope so....regardless, I would change it out. Look in your manual and see what is recommended.
Older AT's call for dextron III which is avail from your local auto parts store or dealer...not sure if you require it, but I would do a few drain/refills and change filter as well if it is that old.
