Hey everyone, I installed a Q300 catback in my 2012 wrx hatch back in August. For the past few months I have heard this weird spring metal type noise when shutting the drivers side door. The sound is louder underneath the car. When driving, the car enters boost and peaks properly. No sounds/smells of an exhaust leak. I took some videos, one at normal standing height and one with the camera near the drivers side skirt.
I broke my leg so I havn't driven in 2 months, but hopefully I can get under it soon to determine what it is.

Sounds like something is loose and rattling around. Make sure all bolts/connections are tight and nothing is rubbing against the exhaust.

Is your car on jack stands? Sounds weird, by my driver door makes the same noise when on four stands. I had mine up in the air for about a month, taking my time with some upgrades and maintenance. I noticed the same noise, and it went away when she was back on the ground.
Now, I will note that I have a GDA chassis and your profile says you are in a 2012. I did not diagnose mine, but I am betting it is some minor chassis flex. I was looking at ladder bars and fender braces as a possible solution. Hope it helps. May not, but I tried. ![]() |

Did you make sure all the heat shielding was bolted down tightly? I somehow missed a bolt when I installed my q300 and it made that noise til I found it
