Which made it the most expensive Subaru ever built. That is, according to what one of the engineers responsible for it's construction told me. I also got to see it in person and they took the SC off because he said it was too torquey(is that a word?). I was very sad not to get to see it.

Now, too torquey for a heavy car like the ST-X/Baja with 240hp. What would a SC do to the BRZ/FR-S?

Yeah, the motor is low in the BRZ, and kinda far forward for RWD...I feel like Andre the Giant could have wrenched on that car. It's like a '73 Monte Carlo in there!

Probably pretty good. Hood clearance and tuning would be the only issues to work out.

That's just what I remember from when I worked at a Toyota dealership a few years ago. But the warranty I was referring to was for the TRD parts themselves. Perhaps the cars themselve (and the stock components) still retain the original warranty.

TRD's website states the superchargers carry a warranty of 12-months regardless of miles or the remainder of the factory powertrain warranty when installed at a Toyota Dealer. This also includes any factory parts that were damaged or caused the failure. I would think if you purchased an extended warranty this would be covered with the stipulation that a Toyota dealer installed it and not other modifications were performed to the supercharger kit (replaced pulley, ecu mods, etc.). This is actually a pretty good warranty but it does come at the cost of the product and dealer installation.

It's all in the tuning. I was running 8psi on my RS-t for 3 years with 0 issues. With the DI you can be a little more aggressive even.

DI makes it easier

Availability of E85 potentially makes the 12.5:1 desirable even.

When they mean exclusive to the FR-S, I'm sure they mean it would fit on a BRZ but Subaru would deny your warranty if something happened.

And Toyota dealers probably won't install it on a BRZ thus Toyota/TRD won't warranty the supercharger either.

The release of that super charger pick certainly has me contemplating. Depending on power and other things changed as well as the overall price, I would love to finally be in full swing support of this car. It missed the mark originally but I think if the trd comes with super and other performance bits and is priced like an STi (dreaming that it could be a bit cheaper) I'd actually just start parting out the s, selling all I could on it and scrapping the chassis. I love the car, but I want something I can own from the day it was made. That means much more to me to be able to have that special relationship.

it's a TRD add-=on you order/install through the dealer, yes. However being a TRD part, it still covers a (most likely) 3-year 36,000 mile warranty. Same deal as slapping the SVO supercharger kit on a Mustang GT.

I'd hope that when the trd package comes out it would include this as well as better internals. If it doesn't I'll go right back to not caring, because slapping a super on a car and running it at 4psi is stupid if you drop 5 grand on it.. The STI is a considerably different animal from the wrx and is only 8 grand more, with better suspension, interior, engine, and drivetrain.

You don't know TRD well.

and the STI is a model, not a dealer installed option.

I don't know their reputation in terms of how much they differ from normal trims other than the celica, which was pretty much wrx to sti step up levels. I also know trd is toyota's sti.

You can buy sti stuff in bits the same way. You can also buy trd trim levels same as you can buy sti trim levels.
