Default Next Cadillac CTS-V to get forced-induction V8; ATS-V a twin-turbo V6

Autoblog: http://www.autoblog.com/2013/02/19/n...-v-a-twin-tur/

Quote:
Word on the street is that the next-gen Cadillac CTS-V, due as a 2014 model, will retain its force-fed powerplant but its design will be based on the modern 6.2-liter LT1 that will find a home under the hood of the new Corvette. General Motors is reportedly working on two variants of the engine, one supercharged and the other with twin turbochargers one of the engines will serve duty in the upcoming CTS-V and the brand's upcoming rear-wheel drive flagship. Expect the engine, regardless of its intake method, to make more power than the current powerplant (a 6.2-liter V8 with an Eaton Twin Vortices Series supercharger developing 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque), but with improved efficiency.

The ATS-V, still officially unannounced, will reportedly get a twin-turbocharged V6. That engine should be plenty powerful, but if consumers demand even more displacement there is room under the hood for something as large as a 7.0-liter V8, say reports. Wouldn't that be fun?

Default Next-gen Cts-v To Gain Forced-induction Lt1 But Lose Coupe, Wagon Variants

Leftlane: http://www.leftlanenews.com/next-gen...-variants.html

Quote:
The next-generation Cadillac CTS-V will retain a forced-induction V8, but the range could lose two of its body styles. The next-generation CTS, which will debut next month at the New York auto show, will be offered as a sedan, but coupe and wagon variants remain uncertain at this point.

But let's start with the good news. According to Motor Trend, the next Cadillac CTS-V will arrive with a forced-induction version of the same LT1 engine found between the fenders of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. General Motors is still deciding on the CTS-V's induction method, however, so it remains possible the car could arrive with either two-turbos or a supercharger.

Whatever path GM ends up picking, we expect the new CTS-V to at least match the power ratings of the current car.

Now for the bad news -- citing new cost cutting efforts, Motor Trend says Cadillac might scrap slow-selling coupe and wagon versions of the new CTS. No official decision has yet been made GM could keep the variants to boost the CTS' global appeal but it's not looking good for either model at this point.

Be sure to check back for Leftlane's live coverage of the NY show, including the unveiling of the 2014 Cadillac CTS, next month.

Damn. An engine like that in the CTS-V wagon would put it right up there with the Audi RS6 Avant if GM could put a decent AWD system in it.

I would really like to see an ATS-V...its about the only vehicle GM has got right as of late and that isn't hundreds of pounds heavier than its competitors offerings.
