Found this key while I was cleaning the car today. It doesn't start the car but it locks the doors and opens the trunk... Kinda disappointing because its a cool looking key, the one I have now is kinda cruddy looking. They key is cut like crap so I'm guessing that's why it won't start the car.

Hey has anyone here experienced a whine under acceleration? Even when in neutral as soon as I hit the gas there's a really annoying whine.

Check your transmission oil?

Might also be wheel bearings, or you brake pads might be low

I was leaning towards the transmission fluid, it sounds similar to when reversing. I was gonna change the transmission fluid and diff fluid sometime soon

Go to subaru dealer and have them change it out for Subaru Extra S... That stuff is awesome for the transmission.

They have that stuff at the dealer down in Naha? I need to change my transmission fluid too.

It could also be your PSF. When that gets low it totally sounds like going in reverse.

Ok if car is in neutral and it whines sounds like to me it's alternator cause if it is in neutral the trans and diff are not under load so the don't rotate either the alternator, power steering pump, or ac compressor is going bad my money is on the alternator pop the hood ref the car with u stand right there and you will know.

Yes they do have it... I had them fill up a brand new gas can so it cost me 4000 yen. But I heard it can cost you up to 6000 yen

What weight oil are you ladies using? From what I've read, 5w30 isn't a good choice.

Depends where you are or if you are going to race.. Since Okinawa in the summer is hot ass ****.. I use 15w50 or 15w40. In the somewhat winter time 10w30 or 10w40

It was the psf, just needed to let it sit over night and now it's good. Thanks for the help.

It's still really cold here in the morning, like 30 degrees out, do you think I'd be good with 5w40? And then in the spring switch to 10w40?

It's up to you... You can use 10w40 in the cold.... Just remember like any other car out there, allow proper warm up time in the cold before boosting your car.

It's made for gc8... Direct bolt on... But it's not factor

You can find them on Upgarage or YAJ

Cool! I kinda want a black or carbon fiber one... Heading to upgarage on Saturday, can't wait to check it out.

On another note, the car a quick cleaning... Nothing crazy since it'll be filthy again tomorrow. I'm still in the process of getting rid of the 3M tape residue that the window visors left behind... PITA.

Haha i creeped one guy who had that hood scoop. I heard he wanted to get rid of it so i found the car on base and left a note, thats how i got my hood scoop haha.
