Default Burning Rubber Smell and Bubbling Noise Near Turbo

Title pretty much says it all. Recently I've been getting a burning oil/rubber smell through the cabin air vents. I decided to take a look under the hood when I got home to see if any tubes or wires were touching hot parts of the engine and noticed a bubbling/percolating type noise coming from near the turbo. I'm assuming the smell is a problem but is the noise normal? I've recently taken the car to the dealer to do a recall on the fuel lines and they told me my oil pump was leaking and needed to be resealed and that I needed to replace a valve cover gasket, would either of these cause the noise or smell? Thanks in advance.

ya know....my bugeye smelled like burning rubber after a long drive for a long time and i never really did figure out why......i have to assume that it was one of the belts...it stopped at some point and

the bubbeling may mean that one of your coolant lines is leaking a lil and letting air into the system or ya may need to change the cap(s)

Maybe your a/c drain hose near the downpipe. Mine is less than an inch from it so you could look at that.

is it a burning oil smell or a burning rubber smell?? The difference should be noticeable, bubbling tells me your leaking coolant and if it's burning off you should smell it as well, it should be a very sweet type of smell

could you see down to your turbo?? it might be worth removing the heat shield and taking a look at your oil and coolant lines as well as the drain line by the downpipe while you're in there

My bugeye just started smelling like this also... I looked everywhere and can't find anything leaking. Smells like a plastic bag is stuck to the exhaust..

mine had the bubbling noise, but I fixed that with adding a new rad cap on the upper tank and burping the system.

I get that oil burning smell usually when its raining. Ive started to think that its due to when i hit a puddle of water and it getting on my wrapped exhaust manifold or wrapped Downpipe.

My lines near the turbo have the bubbling sound too, I also had the burning rubber smell but it was the AC hose. I recently had a new radiator put in with new top and bottom hoses and a new radiator cap and my thermostat hasn't jumped as if I had an air bubble.
