![]() My friend's STI has the tube replaced with hoses, any disadvantages? Mine is kind of rusty looking and I have plenty of hosing and fittings around I could replace it with.

No advantage, most aftermarket intercoolers do not have a place to moun the metal piece, so hoses are used.

Make sure the tubing is rated for fuel and oil vapors or it will melt. Most emissions rated hoses are fine. DO NOT use coolant hoses.
