Salvage cars are only a deal if the buyer is aware of what they are getting themselves into..you can't get a loan on it, or near replacement value if it gets wrecked again, stolen or whatever else. Also, if you don't plan on keeping it for long, you will get your a$$ handed to you if you try and get the majority of your money back out of it. It won't happen.. Basically plan on driving the car into the ground, or turning it into a dedicated race or rally car that could be a write off anyway. Ask the people who have tried to resell their salvage cars within a year of purchase..not a pretty picture.

Don't buy a salvage car from anyone without a Subaru shop doing a prepurchase inspection first. Even with that, sometimes things still get through the cracks. One of my buddies bought an '07 STi w/ 17k miles on it already leaking from the cam seals, and some other issues.. That's completely atypical for ANY 17k Subaru. Additionally, the car wasn't pulled straight before being put back together, so the front end/subframe is "off" underneath. But it sure is pretty from the outside.. Another friend bought an '06 STi w/ less than 40k on it, paid nearly book for it, and didn't do a prepurchase. Big boo boo. There is a raft of issues with that one.. not straight, rusty underneath, non HIDs, missing downpipe bolts, hemorrhaging oil, bad radiator, etc. A few grand worth of work on a 40k car.. Not so much of a deal then.

Buyer beware!!! Salvage parts are ok.. cars.. well that's up to you. There are many salvage outfits that have some fantastic turd polish! You get what you pay for..

Default This add and others on Portland CL

Pasted from craigslist. This guy may just be a hater. Hope Silverline does the right thing here... Not hating just showing the posts being flagged off CL. But I would contact him through the add and ask why before I made a buy. We get what we pay for.. Cl add pasted below.

Don't buy from Silverline Automotive. They are full of scam. Every single one of their Subarus have been in an accident. Even if it has a clean title. They frawd their titles. They always send a forged copy of the title to your bank when you're getting approved. Matt is just the salesman that would lie his way through just so that he gets his comission. He will say that he marks the cars up only 250-300 dollars yet its about 5000-6000 thousand dollars. He also calls himself the owner. Yet if you go to their site it says that hes just a general manager. He claims to be a master mechanic. Yet he never took any automotive classes. I bought a car from them and now I found out that the car that I thought had a clean title has been in 2 accidents. My bank has charged me extra 2000 dollars for the "title fraud" yet I didn't know that the car has been in fire and totalled before i bought it with a clean title. DONT BUY FROM SILVERLINE!!!!!!!!

Can the bank do that? Is it not their responsibility to check the title before approving the loan?

They are actually pretty good to buy from and if you have any issues or wanna trade parts they usually have no issues with that. I would say that i have had two friends that have bought cars from them one was an 05 Sti and the other was an 04 M3 both of them the battery died within the first week. So thats the only downfall that i have ever heard

She has had a few other problems too BUT Matt did make things right for her. Maybe it was just because she is a girl tho i dunno?

another friend of mine bought one from there with zero problems

I wouldn't buy a salvaged car...

^^ I know of multiple accounts when customers bought a "clean titled" car only to find out later that it had been wrecked before.

Silverline is a great place to buy a STi. I have bought so many parts from them and a bunch of friends and.family have bought cars. My cousin bought an 07 from them a year ago and they took care.of him in a major way. They go out of their way, especially for locals. Nick is the homie, and Leo is cool too! I would recommend Any1 to them, but like.everyone has said, they DO sell salvaged vehicles,BUT, they know.what ther doing, so you can trust them! I live right down the street from them on Columbia, and I.stop in all the time just to see what else they got going on. I'm.hoping they can help me find a 95 Impreza shell for my next project. If Any1 in the 503 has one, holler!!!

My friend bought a 04 Sti from them half the panels match, half don't..... They put like two or three engines in it before it ran right, and the Goldie's on it didn't even match.... Had the wrong lines hooked up to his turbo so it was leaking oil.... I wouldn't recommend anyone to them unless it was for a gutted track car shell.....

Sup stooge. Your dealership is full of scam artists and thiefs. If you backed up your cars at all, you'd be driving them yourself instead of going after desperate kids obsessed with the STI badge. But you know your cars are a danger, and broken beyond repair underneath the new wash and wax job. GFY.

And no, haven't bought from them; but give other reputable dealers a bad name.
