I'm getting excited. I need to get these brakes done so that I can move onto putting the short block together.

Funny you mentioned the build. I was just thinking how this would already be running if I had left the WRX driveline and suspension alone,, or had not upgraded the STi bushings.

Thanks man.

I was able to get the rear calipers stripped today and all four primed. I'm questioning my paint choice so I am stopping until I get that sorted out.

Installed the new Tie Rods and finished installing my front Cusco subframe support.

Welcome Brotha.

The car is coming together. The whole driveline/suspension swap was not part of the original plan, and took a long time, but in the end it will be very nice.

NOW back to buiding the motor

Yea progress is slow. Thanks man

I got my old seats cleaned up and ready to sell today. I cleaned up the interior a little in preparation for front seats, door cards and gauges. I have some wiring to clean up so I decided to go ahead and install the gauges at the same time.

The rear seats have been in for a while

I picked up the front seats from the Upholstery shop and proceeded to clean them for the second and third time. They aren't perfect but they will work.

Progress has been very slow but I did start my torque plate honing. I hope to get the honing finished this weekend so that next week I can start getting the block and parts all cleaned up and ready for assembly.

A few things I've been doing:
bought another set of headlights, I need an extra set for the HID upgrade
bought a grill with side pieces, will be selling my old grill
sold my 11mm oil pump and bought a 10mm
bought an ACT 6 pad/puck sprung disc, will be selling my new ACT HDSS Street Disc
will be selling my AVCS Kelford Cams and buying a set of non-AVCS Kelford Cams
My STi rear door cards had holes cut in them for tweeters, so I bought a set of Fasgate tweeters to feel the holes.

^^ problem solved

Ok, so I got cylinder 1 and 3 done over the weekend. I lightly honed with a 320ish stone to get out all the high/low spots, fixed some taper and out of roundness. Then went over it with 500 stones to smooth it out. I'll finish with a ball and plateau hone.

I hope to finish cylinder 2 and 4 today

Finished my honing so the block halves are ready to go. I'm dropping off the block and heads to be cleaned this week and hope that I can start putting this together in another week or so.

I was in Dallas last week and on my way home I dropped by Forced Performance to pick up my upgraded GT35R. Say hello to my new HTA3582. It's like a new turbo. The folks at Froced Performance do amazing work.

What kind of primer did you use after you completely stripped the calipers. I thought you weren't supposed to go all the way down.

Great work and nice progress.

I'm not sure about stripping them all the way. I had to on the front because they were rough. I used high heat header primer and paint, then put the stickers on and used high heat caliper clear over the stickers. They are as good as I can get with a spray can. I prepped them very well and baked them between coats. I already told myself if they don't hold up I will have them powder coated next.

Thanks

I like this thread.

So..you went from coilover to..STi struts with yellows? personal choice or? I am in the same boat were I've got some suspension problems in my bugeye, so I wanted to know how well the setup is..maybe i've been looking in the wrong place but finding a decent low mileage set of struts short of rebuilds. Just cant decide if its worth it for like some KW3's or going simple and getting some long usage out of em.

Debating throwing a setup of STi pinks and D-Specs, or replacing the stocks and running Pinks or Yellows again myself..

I spent some time reading thru the suspension threads, plus there is a local guy here that runs them and really liked them. I had BC coilovers on my 04 STi and I think they were causing some of my problems, so I decided to go this route. If they work out well then I will have them revalved later on.

I can't give you any feedback obviously because its not finished.

I bought an 06 STi and I am having a hard time decided which one I should finish and keep.

If you are interested in a great Buyeye, either as a project car or finished with a built motor, let me know. Look thru this thread and you will see what I have done to this point and shoot me a message if you are interested.
