Any one know if an '02-'04 WRX/STi PS pump will fit on an '07 2.5i. Looking to get away from the press fit pulley.

I think the STi pump is not the same as WRX pump and the steering rack is also a different ratio at the least. That said, i have no idea about the pulley config. on either one. if you plan to go to a Q-rack or any quick ratio solution like the perrin quick steering kit, the STi pump may be more up to the task. The suspension forum probably has all these answers buried in its thread pool, i would try a search first. lots of AutoX 2.5i/RS have steering mods with quicker ratio racks so this has to have come up before

I'm really looking to just swap out the pump for a threaded spline WRX/STI pump. Don't want to get into rack/pinion/kit stuff ..... Looking at pics/schematics, it seems that the hoses, bolt pattern, and porting are the same but want to be sure.

I have the RS ... had. RS has press-on PS pulley and I wanted to upgrade all pulleys to lightweight which are threaded. I swapped out 04 WRX PS pump with mine along with 04 WRX lines. Worked great except had to modify sensor, change direction and shorten overflow line and realign mounting bolt holes. All is well with light weight crank, PS, and a/c pulleys in and running smooth.

My 2001 Canadian Spec 25RS had a fine spline threaded pump.
(Put on a GroupA PS Pulley when GroupA was liquidating before closing the doors.) My 2007 Canadian Spec 2.5i Wagon has a press on pulley. Seems they used whatever they had in stock on the production line that month. Just go to a wrecker and find a P/S pump that has a nut on the shaft. Any 2.5 or WRX up to 2007 should work (Not sure about the last and current generation). STi had a different flow rate to match the different rack I think. |
