New to the forum and the WRX! Critique my plans!
Finally graduated and bought a car! My history with sports cars was previously limited to Ford Probes in the early/mid 2000s (high school/early college). For fun, I'm including the last picture I took of my Probe before a drunk/stoned minor t-boned be while I was stopped at a 4-way. Caught a lot of flack from kids about putting my time in this car, but it was a great learning experience and I'm pretty proud of learning how to do some things I never thought I'd be able to do with cars (including an engine swap).
Unfortunately, I was a broke as college student in only year 2 of 6 at the time of this accident and getting back into a "sports car" was nowhere near practical. I was doomed to drive a 2000 intrigue until about 7 days ago. This car was actually in great shape for the mileage, and quite reliable, but it rode like a land yacht.
Enter graduation! Well actually, I graduated about 10 months ago, but I needed to take care of some debt and other priorities before considering a car. I was actually pretty set on either a mint 90s RX7 or M3, or maybe even an rx8. Then I realized... I live in michigan and AWD might add some all season fun to my life. I managed to find the color and trim of the car I wanted right before committing to ordering from the factory and waiting for months. I don't know how people do this... the anticipation would have killed me!
So I present, my 2013 Dark Grey Metallic limited WRX.
Factory installed options include:
Self dimming rear-view
So far, I'm in love. This is a very practical car, with performance to boot. Not used to such an aftermarket, coming from a probe 10 years after discontinuation haha.
What I have in the mail:
Cobb intake w/ airbox*
SPT boost gauge**
Camera for utilization of the Nav's reverse function
A bunch of audio stuff to amp/fix the OEM Nav's audio while retaining function
*Yes I know the intake isn't the best initial performance modification, but all BS aside this is my first FI car and the last remnants of my inner ricer wants to hear more spool and BPV... don't hate.
**I do realize many feel that you can't beat defi, but I honestly was not a fan of the aftermarket gauge pods and not perfectly matching the OEM gauges.
This is the best (basically only) picture I have of the car at this moment. I have been having too much fun actually driving and researching to take decent pictures TBH.
My next steps at this point are to read everything I can about the accessport and figure out how to tune to the best of my/this devices ability. I appreciate the views and would love any tips for new enthusiasts.
TL;DR- Was a poor ass college student that had an atypical (non-redneck) Ford Probe until a stoned minor totalled it. Graduated college, got good job, bought awesome WRX, loves life.

I would suggest you start with this, it is a very informative and great introduction!
