I picked this 2001 2.5 RS a few months ago with plans to do a STI swap.
![]() I finally found a wrecked 2006 STI for a decent price. After 300 miles and a finger in the butt at the Canadian border, I got this bad boy to the garage. ![]() ![]()

The Body looks like it went through hell, but the wheels/tires look pristine? What on earth happened to the car? |

It was hit in the front right fender. The guy I bought it off of owned a body shop and he took the roof and all of the body panels except the quarter panels. It's super easy to work with now that it doesn't have a roof. I'll be posting more pics this weekend when I pull the engine and tranny

Sooo, I had a little issue with my engine lift. The Hydraulic pump is shot so I am waiting for it to be rebuilt... In the meantime, I pulled all of the axles and suspension parts off the donor car. I tell you what, it was a pain in the a**. It seems that the accident that the car was in caused some serious damage to the suspension parts. Thus forcing me to cut one of the rear ladder bars.
Cut ladder bar: it was seriously bent. ![]() Rusted A** ladder bar bolt ![]() Axles/hubs/brakes/struts. I left everything together as much as possible. ![]() sorry for the crappy photos but if you look closely one of the ladder bars is still attached to the hub. I think the bolt is either bent or rusted so badly that its seized in there. All attempts to remove it have been futile. The pb blaster isnt phasing it.. Hope to have the engine out as soon as i get that hydraulic pump back. |

Hey, please please please try to document the dash swap and gd dash harness work. I can't, for the life of me, find any concrete info on what needs to happen to make the gd wirin plug into the Rs chassis. If the gd harness can be unpinned and have the Rs connectors inserted so it plugs into the Rs vehicle harness, ill be quite happy. I much prefer swapping pins/connectors over cutting and soldering.
I'm also wanting to see what you do for the dash beam. I'm hoping to see a good way of doing it rather than the easy way. |
