I've been researching Kinugawa for a couple of years now, verifying their reliability as a MFG. Pulled the trigger on a T518Z for my stock ej205, just looking for a "mild" upgrade from stage 2. Will post unboxing, impressions, etc.
Self tuned the Stg2 setup, looking forward to getting the tune laid down for the new turbo as well. I may eat crow, but I feel like they're a good product and not just another "ebay knockoff". I'm glad these turbos are getting more exposure here, it seems they're known to be very reliable in other circles, just not on NASIOC (yet). Plus, they offer some configurations that aren't advertised anymore by the other MFGs.

Gabedude, everything has been professionally installed, leak test was performed and well as vac. leak test, nothing. Secondly, i did not make 375 WHP with the HTA68 (338-350 23.5 PSI max i think) right now I am sitting at (over 350) with the current setup (no timing 20 PSI). 375whp on a stock VF-52 no way not on this dyno. There is no E85 around me in CNJ that i can run on a regular basis.
Heres the mods: Stage-2 SB (Weisco Pistons, Eagle H-Beam, ACl race Bearings, new crank, ARP head Studs) Stock Heads decked, cleaned Kamak 20 GTX STS AP ELH/GS upipe, CNT catless DP CBE AP fuel Rail kit with Fuel Lab FPR 73mm Intake, Perrin Inlet, FMS FMIC 6-spd swap HDSS Clutch GS Boost Sol, AEM 4.5 Bar MAP TGV/Air Pump Delete |

Looking at the Kamak/kinugawa turbos and would like some help. Looking for something thats hitting full boost before 4.5k and making a easy 350whp on pump and 400 on E85. I'd like to make more than that and spool sooner ideally
. Mods are Stock V8 Ej207 w/ AVCS FMIC ID1000s/rails/pump Stock TS header/uppipe 3in exhaust APS hard inlet CAI EBC So Im thinking TS18g or 20g but not sure what ones. All Twin scroll kinugawa td05h-18g 3in anti-surge ($300 Cheaper than rest) kamak sts td05h-18gtx 3in anti-surge kamak sts td06sl-18gtx 2.4 kamak sts td05h-20gtx 3in anti-surge kamak sts td06sl-20gtx 2.4 kamak sts td06sl2-20gtx 3in anti-surge kinugawa td06sl2-20g 3in anti-surge ($300 Cheaper than rest) Im leaning towards one of the first or last 2. Paul I have td05-20G twinscroll on my 2.5l setup, good low end torque, but top power is poor, TD06SL2 is much better for TS, and 20G is at least option to get 350whp, 18g will not push it, so td06sl2-20g, 3in anti-surge, and ask Kinugawa to make billet wheel 5+5 blades for some extra money! Simple, all these can be acquired for same price as a 18G/20G-XT/XT-R turbo:
Kinugawa 18G/20G twinscroll, approx $750 Kinugawa header twinscroll approx $450 Kinugawa downpipe twinscroll (need to weld to your aftermarket downpipe of choice), approx $115 (or buy a $20 flange): ![]() Last edited by V8 GTFO Lesbic WGN; 03-05-2013 at 02:57 PM. |

If the info is to be trusted, the T518z compressor housing has a slightly larger A/R than the TD05. But, the inlet is a fraction of an inch smaller (seems to be near the original TD04 inlet size..maybe?). Seems Greddy was mum about the complete stats, but I may just not know where to look for reliable info. There's not a whole lot of information on this housing on the subies, there are a few posts of people using the actual greddy but little data. Part of me just wanted to try something unique for the fun of it and it's not so unusual to be dangerous or foolhardy, just different. Looks like a mild, fun upgrade for the 2L with decent power and spool. I'm going to check on eta sometime this week, I believe it was a 2 week lead time. |

The compressor cover is bigger than a td05 housing, uses a bigger turbine wheel and comes in 8cm. Its a nice turbo for both 2.0 and 2.5 |

This is George from Kamak Dynamics, I will be directing Kamak from here on out and I just want to drop a line. I usually don't have time to participate in forums, but after reading this thread, I had many laughs and want to thank everyone for making the community so exciting. Of course, some information true, some false, but it's funny to see that you guys know the operations of our company, maybe, better than we do. I LOLed the whole way through and had a great time reading.
I wanted to let everybody know my experiences. There is no way I can put it in a short paragraph so I'll summarize. Recently, I've been doing a lot of traveling to know what the turbo industry is like, Globally. I've spoken with the largest turbo companies around the world and it's amazing that everyone is wanting to jump into the market in China right now because they are just beginning to play with performance cars. Thought you guys might like to know what what you guys are doing is leading a brand new trend in China. I will be in going to Kinugawa and Kamak locations in a few different countries the coming weeks to merge Kinugawa and Kamak together, officially. I will then setup a solid network so everybody can contact us easily. I know that it seems hard to communicate with us for some people, and I have to admit that I feel the same way; therefore, things will improve here for us. As a smaller company, our most difficult task is to spread our resources around the world. Unlike many familiar brands, we want to offer the same support globally and offer the excitement of turbocharging to countries that are not as experienced. This limits our resources we can place in a certain area, but it certainly does not mean that we do not want people to contact us. I will most likely not be able to view this thread often and want to thank everyone that participated in talking about us. Whether is good or bad, it's all good for us. The good gives us encouragement to continue doing what we do. The bad gives us motivation to improve and become better. |

We just had one of these; TD06SL2 18G 7cm installed on a WRX 2.5L hybrid (flared chambers), Manley pistons. We feared for his tranny when we did E85 conversion.
A setup we did a long time ago with a Blouch TD06SL2 18G 8cm, tmic on E85 made over 400wtq on a Mustang dyno. There's a PPG trans on that car though. Lol |

I've had my subaru since 2007, almost 6 full years and ive been through countless parts, i was 18, low on money, and did what i had to do to get performance parts. Through all my ebay parts, the only thing to me that is proven are intercoolers, pipes, basiclly anything that doesnt have a moving assembly. Wastegates? blew the diaphragms, blow offs? they leaked, turbo's? had 2 gt35r's installed on 2 friends cars, one runs decent at 11 psi, the other seized at 17 pounds.
moral of the story, im 100% ebay parts work, but you take a gamble. plain and simple is that, if your willing to gamble your money in sacrifice of the longevity of your motor, thats all on you, we cant make that decision for you, all every forum member here can do is show/tell facts and opinions. would i run an ebay turbo? no, never, if you cant afford a quality turbo then dont mod it, plain and simple. would I run ebay pipes, catch cans, intercoolers, badges, anything not moving? sure why not |
