Hi All,
Just taking a look over everything since I just got my car back from the shop and notice this spring that looks to maybe connect to the clutch arm but it is just hanging out - does this need to be connected? I have an Exedy twin disk in there if that matters at all on if it should be connected or not... This pic is looking down at the tranny right behind the throttle body, about halfway between it and the firewall. ![]() Thanks

Yes that spring goes to the clutch arm.

Maybe it's just the angle of the picture, but it looks like the hook on the end of the spring is barely there - did part of it break I wonder?

Could have, its just a small hook, about a 180* bend, doesn't seem to have a place to 'click in' to the arm where it looks like it goes... Might try grabbing a new one and see if it fits - are these important? Does it make clutch feel better?

It "clicks into" the arm through the little hole near the top.
Not a clue if it's really necessary...based on the direction the slave cyl piston moves and the way the arm moves the TOB relative to the pressure plate, I'd say that spring does basically nothing, but having never tried it without the spring I can't say for sure one way or the other. If I had to throw out a wild guess, I'd say its purpose is to keep the TOB from riding on the PP when you're off the clutch. Last edited by the suicidal eggroll; 03-05-2013 at 10:08 PM. |

The spring hooks into the hole in the clutch fork.
