regarding sound i can also confirm if anyones interested that this stereo does have slightly better sound than the other stock radio put in most subarus. my wife has this in her 11 forester and i had the other in my sti. there definitely is a noticeable difference. although for a factory look and another 150.00 i opted for the rosen 7" nav system which has a hookup for backup camera also.

i do not notice a discernible difference in sound. sounds about the same crappy subuaru stereo. anyone have an idea if i upgrade the speakers it will make it better?

I think it depends on the source. I like loudness/srs on with the eq off. But I really only listen to sirius. I don't like loudness/srs on with bt.

Hey guys easy plug and play, radio sounds much better than the stock unit. This head unit still has the sat plug.

Mine came in today. Took about 1-2 mins (literally) to install. Used a butterknife to pop the bottom of the trim off, the rest of the trim just came off super easy from that point forward. Then 4 screws and the wiring harness plugs and it was in my hands. Reverse the situation minus the butterknife.. crap picture but you get the point:

I have a 2012 WRX base. One thing that has griped me is that when listening to music from my iPhone via BT-audio, there is no way to reverse or fast forward within the track. Does this head unit in this thread have that ability?

I believe the radio shape is larger than the GD's, which are pretty much standard Double din sizing. So, I don't believe it will work.

SVXdc has a harness that can make this possible. That is if you can get a hold of him. Haven't heard back from him for 2 weeks about one of my inquiry. Though you might loose some function. Also you might need to modify or get a custom dash trim piece to fit this in.

I thought this was double din. well if it wont fit exactly into the oem spot no thanks, don't want to hack up my dash. oh well

Well this unit is double din however it is a bit wider than regular double din. So to get it to fit in an older subaru with "regular" double din will require some modification to your dash lol. My suggestion for you is to just go aftermarket.
