Yeah I am getting close to being able to get some work on it but the lease is ending on the house we are renting and they want to put it up for sale and so far I am having trouble finding a new place where I will be able to finish it. Unfortunetly I am concidering selling it to free up some space and money. If anyone is actually interested in potencially taking this vehicle off my hands pm me. I haven't decided on it but if I do and you want it, its prolly a good idea to get your name in...

****ty news but I got look at all the options.

But a race car could still be one... just takes a different approach to surviving.

The exploder is much more useful to me then an occationally used race car. It's also worth more...

Hey after some consideration I have decided that it would be best for me to part the foz out. I will be keeping some of the parts and the chassis to undergo another project of equal to (IMO) way sicker result, so I'll be selling the full turbo system, suspension, as well as some of the custom exterior stuff, and a few of the engine bits. I am staying at the place I am living at now for a few extra months so I'l have time to make my alterations but I can't have a occational track day car I need something I can drive all the time all year around so...

I'll have the for sale thread posted up in a week or so. If your guys are after any parts pm me and I'll give you the list..

Don't cry people project time attack foz is still a go I am just changing the material its going to be driving on.....

Hello all!

So I guess its time to fire this bitch up again and get the ball rolling again. I know for some this is going to be a disappointment and to others maybe an evolution to rival the gods... Either way its happening and I have new determination to start this up again.

So as some of you know project ForeSTAR was going swimmingly and then we hit a bit of a snag waiting for some parts. Weeks, then months past and then race season was about to start and Foz wasn't even close to being ready. That plus an up-coming move forced me to make some rash choices and downsize the stable. The ForeSTAR was put up for sale. After a few changes to my future moving plans I was able to keep my shop for an additional few months so I have time to do one last project before I move and fall of the "crazy Subaru guy" radar till I move to another place with a shop. Don't get me wrong, I'll still work on cars but nothing to the extent of the projects I am known for... So with that said I realized that though it maybe incredibly cool I do not have the room to have a car I can only drive 10-12 times a year and can only do one thing... GO STUPID FAST. I need something that I can use all year around when my DD (91 MR2 n/a) is ether too small or too rwd.. So I bought an 01 Forester as a second car, sold the Exploder to my mom's bf and was going to sell ForeSTAR. I have since changed my mind and decided to part out a few things on it to help change the direction of this build in a big way.

Parts I have kept:

Engine:
STi Short Block (w/ High Comp Pistons, Forged rods yada yada)
All my JIC Fittings
Fuel Cell
Agency Power Crank Pulley
Unorthodox P/S Pulley
Unorthodox Alternator Pulley
Tomei Timing Belt Guide
Cosworth Oil Pan Baffle
PIA Special Burly Pickup Tube
Accusump

Drivetrain/ Suspension:
STi RA Spec C 6-speed (Tranny, Diff Axles)
Exedy Clutch
ACT Flywheel
Agency Power Short Shifter
Kartboy Front + Rear Bushings
STi 5x114.3 Bolt on Front Bearings

Exterior:
JDM Grill
JDM Corner Lights
Fenders
ForeSTAR Stitch Welded Shell

Interior:
Prosport EVO Gauges
Racing 5 Pane Mirror

I am keeping the shell of the ForeSTAR and using it to do all the fabrication for the new project. I can assemble my new motor and install it with the tranny and make it a full roller painted and ready to go. Once I am there I will take the 01 Foz I bought and use the:

Full Harness
Full Interior
Hood
Doors
Hatch
And some misc crap to finish the new project. The rest I’ll sell to recoup moneies.

So, parts are ordered so there is no going back, by Thursday I will have all the parts ordered or in my hands and I will be putting in a lot of time to get this done as fast as I can so there will be lots of up-dates!!

Not going to go into much detail about the new project but in the next coming weeks you will start to get the jist. Project ForeSTAR was a killer project, a one of a kind race Foz unlike anything out there. The new project is along the same line, a one of a kind race Foz (I mean really one of a kind). We are just changing the Media for which it’s driving on….

Here is the new parts list:

Engine:
2008 Impreza SOHC Heads
Gates Racing Belt (SOHC)
ARP Headstuds (SOHC)
10mm Spark Plug Wires
WRX Top mount TGVs (w/ Delete)
WRX Stock Modified Injectors (800cc)
Perrin Fuel Rails (V1 w/ new pushlok fittings)
2004 Roush Mustang Eaton MP90 Supercharger
Universal 31”x16”x3.5” Radiator
X3 10” Electric Fans
OBX SS Header (N/A)
OBX 2.5 Exhaust
Universal 3” Snorkel Snout
150amp High Power Alternator
X2 Optima Batteries

Drivetrain/ Suspension/ Wheel & Tires:
Stock STi Driveshaft
X8 1” Uniball Bearing Joints
X8 ” Hyme Joints
X4 ” Hyme Joints
FOA 10” Travel Dual Rate 2.5” w/ Remote Rez Coilover
FOA 16” Travel Dual Rate 2.5” w/ Remote Rez Coilover
FOA 4” Travel 2.5” Hydraulic Bumpstops
Custom Re-drilled Forester Rotors (5x114.3)
Hydraulic Handbrake Level (Dual Pistons)
Black Rock 15x10 -38 Wheels
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrak 33x12.50x15 tires

Exterior:
OE Headlights w/ HIDS
X10 4.5” 27w LED Fog Lights
2004 Forester Taillights
Couple Universal LED Taillights

That’s all you get till I start posting up-dates. I should be starting this project this weekend so I’ll have a nice initial up-pipe starting Monday.

Also I posted ForeSTAR in the Top Scoob competition. Since she is going to get the major conversion the only other Top Scoob it will be eligible will be Forester only and I am determined to be the first to Win 2 Top Scoobs so Vote for your favorite ForeSTAR!!

Okay so at least to start this isn’t much of an update. I have 3 cars in my shop because I am no longer allowed to have them stored outside so I am getting one of them finished this weekend and maybe even the other if all the planets align so the shop will just be Foz time by next week…

Here she is all stripped out of all her go fast road course goodies…

And yes thats supercharger is part of this project...

In a side room I have consolidated all of the parts I am going to re-use from the racecar project and a few new ones…

Got me the parts for all the joints for fabricating the suspension components…

In the back are ” Hyme joints with non tapered spacers for the upper and lower control arms. Next are 1” Uniball joints with non tapered spacers for the rear trailing arms. Going to use a 1”x5” bolt for these suckers they are major overkill but why not.. Next are 1” Uniball joints with tapered high misalignment spacers. These will be going in the knuckles. In front of them are 5/8” hyme joints with ” tapered high misalignment spacers for the steering tie rods. I will be pulling the stock inner rod and replacing it with a bracket that will bolt onto the end of the rack so I can use a solid 3-piece link. And finally at the front are some little baby ” Hyme joints with 3/8” tapered high misalignment joints to be used as the end links for a rear sway bar if I need to install one..

Next are the po-go sticks…

I’m pretty proud of these. FOA 2.5” Dual Rate Coilovers w/ remote reservoir, heat treated viton seals 10” of travel for the fronts 16” of travel for the rears.. The fronts are 28.5” extended and 18.5” compressed. Rears are 40.5” extended and 24.5” compressed. I won’t be ordering the springs till they are installed and I can get all the measurements down to get the correct rates.

So before I can really do anything I took a bunch of measurements before the Foz got boxed in and got all the dimensions of my new suspension parts. I will be doing a 7” extension of the front knuckle (sleaving/ pining the CV axle) so I can get a full range motion of travel of about 21” in the front and rear. I am building the parts in CAD so I can have the pieces cut from a plasma router so I don’t have to go through a bunch of time and cut off wheels doing it myself and I can verify all my measurements for the cycle of the suspension with no issues down the road.

This is what I finished last night…

I got the knuckle and the upper and lower control arm pretty much finished. I got to make a few minor changes but ones the rest of the components are done I can lay all the components out on a flat surface and just hand the file to the metal shop to cut them out.

Here is the last part of my efforts last night..

This shows the cycle of the suspension to verify that it will work. It will give me the location to mount the top of my Coilover (which will probably be poking out of the hood…). To save weight and the need for a longer Coilover I am mounting it to the upper arm. I have seen it done many times before and this should work nicely. It also keeps the Coilover high in the wheel well so it won’t get battered by rocks and mud and crap so hopefully it will last longer between rebuilds.

Tonight I should have these arms finished and have the rear trailing arms done as well. The sooner I can finish everything the sooner I can get them cut and assemble them. This weekend I should be able to actually start on some of the work for the fox trimming the front chassis for the new parts and extending the crossmembers so I can get the full motion of the axles w/o hitting or needing to notch the frame rail. It will also give me a good 4” lift so I can fit the 33x12.5x15 I'm putting on here.

That’s all for now..
