Default Where can I take my STI for track time? I dont mean auto x either

Hello fellow Subie owners. I live In MA and own an STI and while I enjoy driving it on the streets and highways I just want a little more action and a chance to put it thru it's paces on a real race track. I mean what's the point of having the car if u can't drive it fast (safely) without getting a ticket. So my question is: where can I go to rent some track time to drive my STI?

There are countless clubs that run events at local tracks.

NHIS is likely your closest or Lime Rock Park in CT.

Browse the motorsports section for more info.

COM sports car club, SCDA, BMW Boston, BMW White Mt and others do NHMS.

SCDA, CART, a few NY/CT BMW clubs do Lime Rock

Kaisen Tuning sometimes buys a day at LRP.

When I think of track time, I don't think of auto-x but thanks for clarifying.

ADSI in Quonset, RI sounds like it's exactly what you're looking for.

Isn't ADSI cones on a runway? Any banked turns? Any elevation changes? Any walls to hit?

Motorsportsreg.com. Check for events at lime rock or nhms that you can register for.

I missed the part in the OP where he says he's looking for any of those things

I still don't understand your hatred for ADSI, having never run there. But to each his own I guess.

That's what defines the difference between "autox" and "track"..OP said he didn't want to do AutoX

My comment had nothing to do with my "hatred" for ADSI. It was a legitimate question.

Fair enough, but my impression of the OP's question and his "I don't mean auto-x" disclaimer is that an auto-x would not allow him to fully experience what his car is capable of (lower speeds, tight courses). ADSI may not have banking or elevation changes, but it is far from a typical auto-x. I routinely hit the top of 4th gear there (100 mph+). And I think the fact that there are no walls to hit is a plus when he would be taking his 2012 STi Limited there. I've definitely pushed it a little too hard there (especially when they ran an event in the rain) and gone for a little spin and was very glad that all I ran into was more airstrip.

It was just a suggestion as I know many people have not heard of ADSI as they only run a handful of times per season and it's in little old Rhode Island.

Depending on what club you run, you can hit 100+ at an auto-x. Of course that also depends on your car too.

lets think about this for a moment.
NHMS is almost an autox but defined as a track. it has everything an autox does, bumps, dips, smooth and rough pavement, cones and flags.

Calabogie is a, well, a GIANT autox having 20+ turns in 3 miles. its the best autox you could ever attend.

You could always give a hillclimb a try. Plenty of space to use your upper gears.

No, it's not totally done, but I'd put it 3rd on the list of the 4 road courses that I am aware of plans for in New England to ever actually happen. The most likely one to happen is the reopening of the road course at Thompson, CT, which I'd put at a 75% chance of of being ready for the 2014 season.
