Mixed reviews in the thread, but I still think this would be my choice. Stockish look but slightly louder. Now the question is wait for a used one or find the cheapest vendor.....tough choice.

This is my first time posting here although I have been reading the posts for several months. It is really nice to be able to go one site and gather so much information. Hopefully , I will be able to contribute as well.

I went with the Maddad Whisper and have been enjoying the sound. No drone. Here's my thread: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2461182
Good luck! |

Just picked up my 13 a week ago with an SPT already installed. Came from a 08 with a full Turbo XS catback and catless Invidia DP. The SPT has a nice little burble to it, tamer then the Turbo XS/catless combo but still has the rumble and bass you expect from a Subaru. Drones(if you can call it that..) just a hair on the Interstate but it should be expected with a performance exhaust. Think I will go back to catless and stick with the SPT. FYI comparing an 08-10 SPT to the 11+ spt is like comparing apples and oranges. My 08 had an SPT and it sounded nothing like my 13 SPT.

I wanted a better sounding exhaust without changing anything else.. I am really happy with it and in the parking garage at work.. everyone knows I'm there. It sounds good without being obnoxious.. I am in the "post 35" crowd.... I was worried my 6 yo would complain but she likes it as well... and its a hatch. |

If the dealer hooks you up with a deal I would go for it. I know a bunch of people that got a lot of add ons included at no charge for their base wrx's (short shifter, all weather mats, boost gauge, spt exhaust etc) I know the Costco auto program had something to do with it....but it's still worth negotiating

I picked up my 2013 Sti sedan a week ago and it came with the SPT exhaust from the dealer.
It's noticebly loud but very throaty and has a nice rumble. (slight drone around town) You definitely won't be sneaking up on anyone. My work parking lot is directly under the building (but open on both sides) Eveyone tells me that my car vibrates the entire building. Like a few poeple have said, just negotiate the price to include it. If you get it for $500 or so tacked on, I'd do it. |

Different resonance. I think a lot of people translate that as "louder" (hence bass shakers lol). I turned my phone's db meter on last night on the drive home. Windows up on the highway at about 70mph, it was settled in at like 75db. Outside the car, when I got home, it pegged the meter on a 4k rev at 1ft (only goes to 100db - boo Droid mic limitations). I can't recall the idle numbers. I remember being unimpressed lol. Edit - forgot to mention, I'm 32 with a wife and 2 kids. No one in my family thinks it's an intrusive exhaust. |

Another thing to consider is the SPT exhaust is a 2.5" exhaust and most downpipes are 3". GrimmSpeed makes an adapter so that you can easily bolt on any exhaust.

hmm well im getting the sedan also they are giving me the exhaust, boost gauge, and short shifter at cost. so i feel like im getting a good deal. it is going to be around 27000 out the door.
i will prolly go with SPT bc cops are pricks around here and love pulling over people for exhaust, and i can say it was a factory add so maybe that will help in my case. i test drove one the other day (2013 HATCH with spt exhaust) sounded very good but did drone but that doesnt bother me much. My old set up on my bugeye was 18g/td05h, TurboXS bellmouth, TurboXS stealthback exhaust, apexi 3" axle back, HKS up-pipe. |
