Here's my offroad rig:

With my open diffs I don't venture very far. Once I build my axles it'll be a different story

So for building diesel trucks what's everyone's opinion i personally like the cummins but as you can't find a descent used ram in this town I am forced to look at power smoke and dura max. I might end up with a ford I really like the body style.

Since Taig sold his lifted wagon, off road is dead here! Know your history!

I have a very strong respect for Fords. I've drove a 09 F350 6.0L for the last 4 years up on the slope. They are defintally road hard and put away wet every day. She starts every morning and rarely let's me down

I bought and have since sold a duramax 2500, was happy with it just had no need for a big truck anymore. I kinda wanted a cummins when I was shopping around for the ease of working in that engine bay if needed. Found the best deal on the duramax though. Didn't even consider Fords after reading that for some engine repairs like head gaskets you have to pull the entire cab off. Not sure if that's true but it was enough for me to scratch it off the list.

Nothing directed at you or anyone Mobbin, note the timing of our separate posts. I was responding to ak609racer. It was merely an observation of the off road stuff going on up here.

People go out... just not posting on here much. It would be cool if we scheduled a trail run one of these weekends.

If you want a rig that's easy to build, get a cummins with the 6 speed manual. If you want to go automatic, drop the coin and have the trans built with an aftermarket high efficiency converter, upgraded/added clutch packs, steel planetary gears, valve body mods, and deep pan.

I have a first gen cummins, and have learned the hard way about building it. Do it right the first time and you will save lots of money!

I'll throw up a pic of my truck tomorrow. She likes to get whored out sometimes lol

Well, there is that. Maybe just a plain white. Anything would be better than the baby-poop-brown that it is currently.

Don't wheel in the city. Go to Knik like the other 99%... Or hook up with some real wheelers and go on a real trail!

AKIC Offroad is Alaska 4x4 Network! http://www.alaska4x4network.com/ There are a LOT of us over there, we don't post here about offroad because we do that over there! Actually I should say that they do, I haven't had a wheeler in about 5 years at least.

The 6.4L is a BEAST, exhaust, intake and tune gets a 8200lbs truck into the high 12's, pretty amazing. I'm loving mine. Wont be taking it off road too much though.
