We installed a new front brake setup on the car in November.

That's an AP Racing 4-pot setup with two-piece floating front rotors with aluminum hats.

I bet this thing is a blast to drive...why did u choose the expensive 2.5rs as your base?

I think purchasing an older model gc like a cheaper impreza l is the way to go with swaps like these..RS's are expensive and the things that make them expensive are the better brakes, larger motor, more attractive styling...the motor and brakes are gonna be tossed anyway and the more attractive body parts can be purchased and applied to the L relatively cheap. Plus the L is lighter. U can get an L with manual windows and locks. It just seems out of all the gc chassis the best choice for swaps and track builds IMO.

I think this is an awesome build don't get me wrong just curious what made u go the rs route?

We didn't plan to swap the car at the beginning. We figured we'd put together a cheapo naturally-aspirated car for track duty, so we bought a 2.5RS. But then the engine had rod knock, and then we had the opportunity to buy the salvage 2004 STi. So we decided on the swap.

You're right, though, an L car is cheaper and would work just as well as a swap candidate. I do love the RS front bumper, though. I'd acquire that even if I had started with an L.

Haha me too. That bumper and hood are must haves for any L owner..I know they were my first purchases.

Day I brought my '95 (lame curvy headlights with lines) L wagon home, I got on Ebay and ordered some '97 and up Depo's, a week later traded my flat hood for an rs one at the junkyard, and two weeks after that, got a grille from someone on here. DEFINITELY a must have for any L owner. My car looks so much better with that stuff.

Driving in to the convention center during setup day was really fun.

Though I would have the head lights and corner lights match, all clear or blacked out (looks good on white cars).
