Right next tune something that isn't even setup as a base for what you'll be running. It's harder and more expensive. Furthermore. The AVCS mapping isn't on the 03 WRX ROM. furthermore, It also doesn't deal with all the emissions BS. So CELs and such as much of a problem. Buy engine and ECU. get AVCS harness from IAP install. Once the engine gets here you'll need to remove the old and install the new along with the correct ECU.

My opinion is that you would do well for yourself to keep the avcs, run the engine with it's matching ECU and modify the harness.
Romraider support for your turbo and the V7 is not a problem. You could ask Steve at IAP for the wiring manual of the V7 engine, and get the wiring manual of your chassis, if you don't have it already. Then buy USDM WRX wiring harness components as needed and get this done. There is a lot of knowledge and help available in this thread. |

My UOA came back from Blackstone for the first regular oil change (I did change it once before... 500 miles into the swap). Pleasantly surprised to see that they actually had the ej207 in their database! Car hardly burns any oil at all, compared to the old 130k+ ej205. I guess I can now rest easy having kept Rotella T6 & Purolator PL14460 as my combo of choice
This is after four winter months, 6k+ miles of mixed driving, w/ few hard pulls here and there for tuning and "testing" purposes |

Well, my 205 had low compression which was diagnosed as a worn rod bearing and warped valves. $4500 to rebuild >.<. Decided to go with a 207, which should hopefully be done around April. This is right after it was just at the bodyshop for 2 months getting 6k worth of work done thanks to a truck reversing into my tail light in a parking lot.

So if you were to rebuild a 207 with a spun rod bearing what would you do ?
I am budgeting a build for a 2.12 liter stroker kit on a 207 which could make for a very fun motor. Anyone do something like this ? |

The 2.1 stroked EJ207 is (in my opinion) the best EJ street motor. AVCS and the stroke give it plenty of torque down low, not as much as a 2.5, but having the lightest pistons makes up for it with a WIDE powerband and better fuel economy. I think that makes it the best "commute all week, have fun on the weekends" EJ motor. |

I appreciate it, but as i had already taken it to a shop to diagnose the misfire on my old engine, it is only costing me slightly more to have the shop install and hook up everything than it would to do it myself.

Just got my v9 swapped 92x and I have a 02 wrx ecu for emissions but its throwing cels. Where or how do I get the ecu to not throw any cels and can I drive it on a wrx ecu on a stock tune?

You need a map for that usdm ecu stat! Whoever does your tune and puts a map on your ecu can take care of the codes.

I'm working on something similar now. Only difference is I'm using an ej205 for budget purposes. However, it will be fitted with v9 heads and a v7 ecu. Should be one hell of an engine.

You say 91 octane. Are you in Cali? Try filling out your profile to help some of us know where you're located and what you drive.
Back to the emissions and inspection, my statement remains the same. You need a new map/tune for the usdm ecu because you want to pass emissions/inspection. |

filled it out. It's in Toronto and I plan on doing a 94 octane tune in the future once I get used to the 91 octane power. In Ontario, Canada emissions laws are now using OBD II and not tailpipe. JDM ecu won't connect and I need a WRX ECU (which I now have). If i can avoid paying $500 for a tune and flat bedding the car to a tuner that would be good.. is there anyway to just use the existing tune on the JDM ecu and put that on the WRX ecu? |
